Rob's Summer Vacation 2011 - Part 2
Last week I shared the first few days of our summer vacation (PAID) with our friends in Tucson before my wife Janell and I headed to San Diego for a week:
We stayed this time at the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown San Diego
Of course, we came fully prepared with our own traveling bar for the week
Our particular suite was the only one with this 800 square foot patio on top of the hotel
From the rooftop patio we had a near 360 degree view of all of San Diego…in one direction the convention center with Coronado Bay behind it, in another direction downtown.
In fact, after looking closer at the convention center I saw this work crew on Friday afternoon clearly winding down for the week and having a little get-together while they enjoyed the view from the roof.
The night views were equally spectacular.
If you leaned over the patio railing and looked down you saw below you, on one side, the pool side bar and on the other side a giant green staging area where they hold weekly drinking and concert parties, known as “Intervention”
This is what the Intervention area looks like right before they let people in.
And this is what a Sunday Intervention looks like at the San Diego Hard Rock…insane. From Noon-7pm hundreds of bathing-suit clad partiers drink non-stop while dancing to a live band or deejay. Much better to enjoy it from the patio.
I actually spent quite a bit of time on the patio since it seemed like every time I looked over the railing there was a new, awesome view to be seen.
Well, not every view was good
Here’s something else I saw from the patio every morning…remember the convention center? Look at that flight of stairs.
Every morning dozens of idiots run and up and down those stairs for their exercise…the girl in the red shorts spent more than 20 minutes going up and down without stopping once…nut job.
Here’s something else I noticed…San Diego is a huge military town and there are American flags everywhere. Look closely at this shot of the rooftops downtown and notice that every building has an American Flag waving except for one…the NBC building! Now we know what NBC stands for…National Broadcasting Communists!
When I wasn’t checking out the sights from the patio, we spent a lot of time drinking.
And I spent some time in the room snacking (and drinking).
And my wife Janell even stayed up late one night and got drunk and took pictures of herself being drunk.
More pictures next week of our dinners out, shopping trips, more drinking and visiting with animals.
