Why I Love Gary
I honestly never thought that the relationship I have now would actually become a reality. I heard about these types of relationships even saw a few, but for me to end up with one, really could it happen?? I desired to be with someone who truly was my best friend, my safe place, we’d put each other first, we’d be free to express our thoughts, ideas, and dreams without being put down. We could disagree and while doing so maintain respect for each other. I desired a teammate, both working together toward the same goal, knowing he’s on your side and he’s got your back.
For years my relationships with men were the opposite of what I desired. There was drama, endless amounts of drama. Trying and trying to make something work out cause I was “in love.” I didn’t want to give up on whoever “he” was at the time and what we had. What we had!!! Now that’s funny! Why do we women do that to ourselves? Everyone else around us can see that the guys a jerk but were crying over not wanting to lose him, and lose what? Lose a guy who disrespects you, lies to you, makes you feel like your in the wrong no matter what you do, a guy who gives you a glimpse of something good so we stick around a little longer for more of his games! We tell ourselves and everyone else, no really he’s a great guy, he’s just going thru this or that, you know the excuses we make for him. And of course we see a side of him that no one else does, that man we know he could be and were gonna save him right? WRONG! Oh my God! When I think of all the years I put myself thru this garbage, I get embarrassed for myself!!
Now of course I played a part in all this, I’m not the innocent victim. I allowed myself (key word allowed myself) to be in these type of relationships. And why did I do that to myself? It’s hard to admit girls, but the only reason we allow men in our lives that don’t treat us like the princesses we are is because of low self-esteem and we are weak. Let me tell you from personal experience the minute I got some of that self-respect, self-love and self-esteem it was easy to be strong and kick em to the curb the second I found out they were a jerk! I want you to know how truly worth it it is to stand strong and not allow drama ridden unhealthy relationships with men in your life. Even if you end up alone, it’s better to be happy with yourself alone, then unhappy with someone.
That’s the point I had reached with myself and all of a sudden out of no where, a lot of people say it happens that way and they're right! Here comes Gary, oh my sweet Gary, the love of my life!! I’ve known Gary since 1997 but he’s the good guy and I wanted the bad boys!! (lot of good that’ll do ya!) Everything I desired from a man Gary is and soooooooooooooooo much more, more than I could have ever imagined. I am amazed daily by him. I know 100% his is my best friend, my safe place, my rock! He puts me first and tells me not only is it his job as a man but a joy to make sure his wife is happy! Thank God I was smart enough to marry this man! We did so on May 8, 2004, I honestly don’t know how I got by in this world before Gary! He is my everything!!
These are just a few more reasons Why I Love Gary...

Here’s what cracks me up about my husband and what I love all at once when it comes to the laundry!
So as soon as Gary’s shirts are done in the dryer he likes them hung up so they aren’t all wrinkled which is great for me because I hate to iron!… but do you see where he has the spot set up…right above the kitty litter box…grooooooooss! Shit looking at this photo, we need to change out the box right now!
Need to find a sock in the Key household?? Look no further than this slot above the dryer, here is where my sweet hubby will put them!!
So my husband was out at some home improvement store and saw these stain removers and he thought I would really like them, which was really sweet of him, the only one I haven’t had the chance to use yet though is number 9, that’s used when you find Rust on your clothes!!! Rust??!!!!

Okay so this used to drive me nutso and then I learned to lighten up!! Now I am content with the fact that this is one of those small things in life and now it makes me laugh! One of the many reasons I Love my husband is what you see here!! We have these selves in our room, meant for books and decorations but also meant for my husbands clothes that are ready to be laundered, or his favorite shorts that he likes to put on after work, it helps the room look lived in instead of all prim and proper!! I love this little quirk of his!!
I love how Gary keeps these towels and water bottle on his night stand, why you ask?? At night sometimes he likes to wet the towel and put it on his head to keep him cool, he hates being hot as do I but he can handle way colder temps and he doesn’t want me to get too cold at night and I love how he thinks of my comfort and then comes up with his way of keeping cool!! He is so dang sweet!
Okay so although my husband owns a gun, he also has this bat next to the bed to kick any robbers ass!! So freaken funny and tough all rolled in one which I not only love about him but find so damn attractive!!!

Anyone who has been in a long term relationship knows all the wonderful stages you go through. First of course you can’t get enough of each other, always touching, making out, having sex, talking for hours and you don’t spend any time away from each other…total infatuation!! Then it shifts gears a bit, you realize you haven’t spent time away from each other and need to make a little more time for your friends, but of course you still feel you could spend everyday with your guy or gal but you know it is the healthy thing to still have alone time away from each other!! We all know that for the most part the first year is just really getting to know someone, their values, what they believe, their goals, dreams, how they handle and manage their life including but not limited to finances, their career, family, friends, their emotions, you will learn if you are dealing with an anger ball or someone who is level headed and diplomatic etc…You will also learn how they handle you! Are they respectful in disagreements? Do they validate your feelings, while still sticking to their guns? Do they treat you like a teammate or an outsider? Do their words match their actions? Are they someone you who has become your best friend? Do you work together to solve issues or are you constantly butting heads? If after one year of learning all this stuff your still together, that’s pretty damn exciting isn’t it!! Now of course you are still in love with the person and touching and having sex is still there but you have maturely moved past the surface shit you started with and you are loving more of the deeper qualities and bond you have formed. It was at this point for Gary and I that we decided to get married! Now we have been married for 3 years and together for 4 years. I know that we still have a young marriage but one of the things I love the most about Gary is he still is the exact same person I met 10 years ago, and got to really know 4 years ago. Of course he is the type of person who makes sure he is always learning and growing as a human, I am talking about his core values, his gentle soul, and how he sees himself. People who run into him that knew him in high school will always say, you were so sure of yourself in high school and didn’t care what other’s thought then and he is the same way now, I admire that about him. While he may continue to grow as a human during our journey here on earth, I know I can count on him, that he is true to his word and is my rock and safe place, because that’s Gary, truly a good man!!

Okay, Trashy Magazines are the best! Gary knows this about me and even though he thinks they are true crap I will wake up some Friday mornings and waiting for me on our desk will be all the new ones that came out on Thursday! I love that! Even though he finds them to be silly he will still buy them for me because he knows I enjoy them.
Gary and I own 3 awesome cats, Autumn, George, and Amber. I love how good he is to our cats! He will play with them and let them crawl all over him and cuddle with them (2 of our cats love to cuddle!) He is such a guy's guy but seeing that gentle side of him with animals is so sweet!
I love that I can look up to Gary and learn from him. When I want to change things in my life he will hold me accountable while being supportive. He is also a much more calm, reasonable and logical person than I am which comes in handy for us emotional beings!!
Gary has great work ethic and I love that! He will work 7 days a week if need be to get the project done and long hours don’t scare him! He can handle so much responsibility and doesn’t blink an eye, he loves the challenges! It is so damn sexy to watch him in action!

I love soooooooooo much that Gary is easy going. I have had one tooooo many boyfriends in the past who were so high strung and would blow their tops off if one little thing went wrong. With Gary, if things don't go as planned he finds another way calmly and moves on.
Spontaneous, spontaneous, spontaneous, that's my Gary!! He doesn't always have to have a schedule, he just isn't anal about that at all. He will last minute for instance say let's take a drive to Carmel eat some Mexican food and come back home, or if we are out and about getting stuff done he'll take a last minute turn up to one of our favorite hills that shows off the sunset. I just love that he doesn't have to stick to a plan and can roll with it and come up with stuff to do last minute.
He is such a man's man, and I love that!! It's SEXY!! He can fix just about anything around the house and if he doesn't know how he will figure it out. And because he is a man's man he knows all about sports which even though I have no interest in, it's manly to know that stuff! It's fun watching him talk about it and watch sports.
I love that Gary is such a good friend to his close friends. He is loyal, honest and trustworthy, salt of the earth friend, he would do just about anything for a friend and they know if they need something he is just a phone call away. This is one of the many things I fell in love with about him, is how he treats his close friends.

This is the sweetest thing ever!! When I am sick, Gary will make sure I have everything I need before he leaves to go to work, he will actually make an ice chest filled with, 7-up, diet of course, saltines, orange juice, water and then he will put next to the bed tissues, a trash can (ya know just in case I have to puke!!) and whatever medicine I may need. One of my favorite dvd’s will be put in already just in case nothing is on tv so I don’t have to get up and find a movie, usually a sappy chick flick which I love or one of the seasons of my favorite drama show of all time Dallas!!
- He lets me be a nut!! It’s that simple, I am crazy and I know it! I can also be pretty moody! (although I do not treat him like shit when I am moody, my moods just change and he knows that!) But he knows it is part of what makes me, me and he doesn’t try and change it. He just rolls with it and laughs at some of the shit I come up with!!
- Have you ever played games with people that are just jerks!? Well it is just not fun. That is another reason why I love Gary so much. He is very competitive but gracious when losing! (Arnie, that means he doesn’t get butt hurt!) So I will slap down the UNO cards and know it is going to be a good time!!
- My Gary is also a very funny guy when he is not trying to be funny! Otherwise his jokes are terrible but he lets me dog on him for it and doesn’t get all upset!! He knows he is not going to be Chris Rock on stage (although Gary would look damn sexy on stage!)
- I am a reality show junkie! So if Gary is watching the tube and comes across some reality show he thinks I may like he will record it for me and also check to see if I have set up recordings of the shows I do like so I don’t miss them!!

-- Oh my gosh, I love my husband SOOOO much because I HATE (did I spell that big enough?? HAAAAAATE!!!!) the heat (and trust me, I realize I can be high maintenance when it comes to the heat), and when it comes to that, my husband is very understanding of this. So when Gary and I are out running errands he will drop me off at the door to all the stores so I can wait inside while he parks.
-Before we got married and since we have been married every month on our month anniversary he has remembered to give me a huge bouquet of flowers, along with a card and sometimes a gift
- He’ll surprise me at work with flowers or gifts
- He makes sure I always have fresh flowers at home, for no reason, just because he knows I love them
- He makes sure my vehicle has gas and when it doesn’t he takes it and fills it up for me and gives it a car wash as well
- When my female monthly visit happens, he rubs my feet and back to make sure I am feeling better
- He always calls me throughout the day to tell me he loves me and to see how my day is going
- If I’m running behind in the morning getting ready for work, he will wake up and make my eggs
- We bought new shower doors and he knew how excited I was for them, so he put them in right away even thought he had worked a long day.
- He sends me lovey e-mails.
- He leaves me sweet notes.
- On my screen saver at home and on my cell phone face plate he wrote a lovey-dovey saying.
- He’ll surprise me with cd’s he’s made for me with all my favorite artists.
- He’s the first man to give me my first “blue box” and continues to surprise me with jewelry from Tiffany’s.
- There was this Armour I really wanted but it was an hour away to pick it up and without hesitation he stopped watching football to take me to get it, I didn’t even ask!!
- Any restaurant we go to before hand he’ll make sure there is food there I will eat , sometimes he’ll print out the menu for me (I’m kinda a crazy healthy eater!)
- For my 35th birthday he planned an awesome weekend in Monterey and had lots of flowers waiting in the room and made sure the bakery at the hotel made my favorite cake, Red Velvet Cake.
- He will surprise me with weekend getaways he has planned for us, just because!!
- I’ll come home and many many times he will do the dishes for me and grocery shopping will be done!!
Gary does so many little things that just come naturally for him and just the way he treats me is priceless, I get teary eyed at least once a month just thinking about how lucky I am!! Don’t waste your time on anything less. I know there are so many crappy relationships out there that we start to believe that it’s normal, but it’s not!! Your supposedto love, care and be kind to each other, not have nasty fights and despise one another!!
