Here are the stars of today’s story. Arnie’s French Mastiff Thor, along with White German Shepherd Nellie and the leader of the pack, Shep.

Early on in the visit, Shep made his way to the giant pools to take a dip but Thor was having none of it.

Theresa from Dogwoods quickly discovered that Thor thought the pool was a big water bowl to drink out of.

Being the good big brother that he is, Shep eventually showed Thor that the water was to be bathed in, not drunk.

Sadly, as soon as Shep turned his back, Thor went back to drinking the pool water.

Meanwhile, Nellie is bored entirely with the whole process and has found her own playmate.

On July 1, the gals at Dogwoods had a birthday barbeque for Nellie who invited her closest friends. Theresa observed that as soon as the meat was done, Shep and Nellie obediently sat at attention waiting to be served while Thor…not so much.

At some point in the visit, Thor decided to chum up to Nellie.

The problem with that was that he didn’t ask Shep’s permission first, which is impolite.

This is Shep saying “this is my bitch, get your own.”

Eventually Thor did get his own plaything, a giant reindeer.

Most days at Dogwoods are spent simply frolicking in the woods and the water.

This is Shep and NOT Nellie…it looks like Nellie went through the dryer, doesn’t it? This is Theresa’s dog Angel who she nursed back to health over the last few years and now is a happy dogwoods pup.

If you look very closely you will see that Thor is attacking the sprinkler water.

Apparently Thor has some sort of odd obsession with water.
