April 9th, 2012 -- Home

I would have to say I like all kinds of music depending on what I am in the mood to listen to although Country music is what I listen to most!! I know I can hear the boooooooooooooooooooos. All of my husband’s family likes country music and that’s all they would listen to growing up so he can’t stand it!! But he can tolerate it in small doses so when he and I are driving together we will listen to one country song then about 3 other type of songs then one country and so on! Rob’s wife Janell the first thing she will say when getting in the car with me is ‘no, no’ meaning change that country music babe!!

I don’t know what it is about Country music but it just has always grabbed me from watching Hee Haw when I was a little kid (google it!) with my Grandpa to still loven my country music in the 80’s while I was also rocken out to all the great rock back then and every genre of rock and pop that has come out my love for country music has never faded. It really is an art in storytelling and can relate to everyone that is if you can get past the twang if you are not a country fan!

This is one of those songs that I think whether you like Country music or not it will grab you. This song chokes me up every time, Bono from U2 who he himself said although he isn’t American this songs even makes him feel patriotic!! So no matter your background or political beliefs, this song is a love song to America, all Americans….Wonderful!

West, on a plane bound west
I see her stretchin’ out below
Land, Blessed Mother Land
The place where I was born
Scars, yeah she’s got her scars
Sometimes it starts to worry me,
‘Cause lose, I don’t wanna lose
Sight of who we are.

From the mountains high
To the wave-crashed coast
There’s a way to find better days I know
It’s been a long hard ride
Got a ways to go
But this is still the place
That we all call home

Free, nothing feels like free
Though it sometimes means we don't get along
Cause same, no we're not the same
But that’s what makes us strong

From the mountains high
To the wave-crashed coast
There’s a way to find better days I know
It’s been a long hard ride
Got a ways to go
But this is still the place
That we all call home

oh-oh-oh
Yeaa-aa-aa

Brave, gotta call it brave
to chase that dream across the sea.
Names, then they signed their names
For something they believed
Red,how the blood ran red
We laid our dead in sacred ground
Just think, wonder what they'd think
If they could see us now

It’s been a long hard ride
Got a ways to go
But this is still the place
That we all call home
It’s been a long hard ride
And I won't lose hope
This is still the place
That we all call home.
