 June 20, 2004

One day I was going to make a tee time at "the Dragon," way out of the way, and not that fun of course. So I went online to try and get there number and stumbled across Coyote Moon. So I looked at the website and said, hey lets try this course. I am soooooooooooooooooo glad I did. Located right in the middle of Truckee sits this awesome golf course. Back in the trees, and mountain the course offers a much more fair test of golf then any other mountain course I've played before. Lots of great views and great golf holes. It is so worth the time to take a drive and instead of driving for 40 minutes off the freeway just take one exit and drive about 5 minutes to Coyote Moon.

Here's a recap of my day....

Heres a look at the first hole at Coyote Moon in Truckee. Its not too long of a par 5 but it's a really cool way to get the course started. Oh yea, I pared this with no warm ups.

Here's another par 5, I don't remember what hole number it is but it's a really cool hole with the water on the right, and nothing but trees left where I was. But I punched out and ended up birdying the hole anyway.

This is the 11th hole. It's a big dog leg right hole that if you have the nuts to do so you can try and cut it over the trees. I live for these shots, and this time I pulled it off. Hitting my new record long drive on this hole 372. The hole measured 436, and I was right on the 64 yard marker. I blew my next shot and ended up with bogey.

This round was a special round because it was a part of my fathers day present to my dad, who is right here, yes with black calf high socks on with shorts. I still love him even though he can't dress. But for 73 he can still play really well.

Here is the employed roomate on the signiture hole. The 13th hole is a par 3 measuring 208 yards. It only plays about 165 though, he hit waaaaaaay to much club and like me ended up with a bogey on the hole. This picture doesn't do justice on how good this hole really is.

This is the 17 hole, and that water is pretty easy to clear from the tee box. Another spectaular hole at a great golf course.
So here is my overall rating for Coyote Moon...
Staff/
Service:
3 balls, I wanted to give them four but they kind of rushed us to start, just so we could hear the started tell us EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD. But it wasn't terrible.
Greens:
2.5 balls, The greens are super hard, but not super fast. It was really deceiving to watch a ball not spin, but then when you hardly hit it, it just doesn't go anywhere.
Fairways:
4 balls. Some of the best fairways I have ever seen. No dead spots, all plush and green.
Price:

Ok, so it costs about $160 to play here, but in the summer time it's going to be worth the price and drive to get away from the heat and play such a great golf course.

Overall
Rating:

3 balls. The one knock I have on Coyote Moon is that there is no driving range. Only a net you can hit into. This isn't bad, but they kind of rushed us so I couldn't warm up. But that's it, everything else was great, I would say to make your tee times as soon as you can.
