October 7th, 2005

This weeks course is located in Gilroy. I didn't drive so don't get worried. A friend had heard some good things about the Eagle Ridge Golf course so we decided to let him drive me down there and play. I have to say it was really kind of nice. Probably one of the harder courses I'll ever go out of town to play that isn't a PGA tour stop, but it was alot of fun. Fairways were good size, the greens were huge and all in all a good golf course, I just wish I would have brought some part of my game with me.

Here's a look at my afternoon at Eagle Ridge....

Here's a good look at the second hole a par 3 with lots of bunkers, including the one on the left that I hit into.

This is just a taste of how good this course was, with all sorts of blind shots, that I'm still looking for where I went.

Ok, so this is hole 10 a big par 4 that had the biggest green you will ever see. I almost played this hole well. If I didn't show up.

Here's the 11 or 12 hole, I wasn't doing to well. I thought, I'll just hit it on the right side to avoid the water. Nope, big yank right in the drink..

This could be the hardest par 5 I've ever played. Really narrow, and don't hit the trees. I did and it cost me, but I did make par on it anyway.

Here is the final hole of the day. I have had it by this point. Not only did I do bad on this hole, but it cost me shooting under 90 which really pissed me off. Thanks alot 18th hole.
So here is my overall rating for Bay Hill...
Staff/
Service:
2 Balls. Not too bad, but not really good either. I mean the marshals were non-existent, which was ok because it wasn't slow, but you would figure they would still be trying to move people along.
Greens:
2.5 balls. It's only that low because Johnny Miller helped design the course. Which means since he can no longer putt, neither should you. Too big and deep, made putting very difficult..
Fairways:
3 balls. The fairways were in great shape, and they had alot of bounce to them. I just wish I could have spent a little more time in them.
Price:

It was a nice course but I really don't think it was worth that much money. Not without a bag tag or a hot dog at the turn at least.

Overall
Rating:

2.5 balls. I did have a good time at Eagle Ridge. It was a nice course, but for the size of the greens, and the price it wasn't the best place to play. I do say that if you ever get stuck in Gilroy, this could be the only nice part of town so you should check it out.
