 March 8th, 2006

Over the cold and wet last week in Sacramento, I was able to get away to sunny and warm Arizona. This was a big golf outing that I have been wanting to do for a long time, playing the best courses that Arizona has to offer. The trip started out with a course that shouldn't be in the top 100, the Canyons resort course. Then things picked up with this course, Greyhawk Golf Club, which wasn't too damn bad.

Here's a photo recap of my day at Greyhawk Golf Club...

Here is the opening hole at Greyhawk's Talon Golf course.  It's ranked in the top 100 courses you can play in America.

The holes are long and tough on the Talon side, with greens that are as hard as rocks.

Here's one of my most horrible shots of the trip, getting stuck behind a goddamn tree.

Plenty of good views, on this par 4 that I do believe I took a big dump on.

x

Here's a look at the two finishing holes on the Talon side, great golf course.  The Raptor side was ok, I didn't take any pictures of it, because it didn't deserve it.

So here is my overall rating for Greyhawk Golf Club...
Staff/
Service:
4 Balls. Really nice kids working the outside service making sure you have everything you need. Plus in the restaurant, hot waitresses that bring your food out to you in no time flat.
Greens:
1.5 Balls. Arizona greens are the hardest(like rocks)that I have ever played. You can't get the ball to stop on them no matter what.
.
Fairways:
3 Balls. The fairways are great, very green and lush. Too bad they won't let you drive on them even though it's been 138 days since it rained.
Price:

Mucho denero to play in Arizona. Is it worth it? I'm not sure but I did have fun.

Overall
Rating:

2.5 Balls. The course wasn't a bad golf course, but the whole Cart Path only thing and the rock hard greens made it playing more of a job than a vacation.
