As you've probably figured out by now, I do a LOT of golfing! Because I get to see a lot of courses and play a lot of greens, I've decided to have a do keep an official reviews page for all the courses I play.
Here's a quick breakdown of my ratings system: |

I have to give big props to my employed roommate for hooking this one up... The Olympic Club in San Francisco. This is a course that has held six major championships, and is going to hold the 2012 U.S. Open there again. This course has that old time golf feel. The greens are really close to the tee boxes and the place is full of great stories, like on the par 5, 16th hole. Only two men have ever knocked it on in two. John Daly and Ben Hogan. Now that's history. Usually they stick you with some up tight members at private courses, but we got to play with two other guests and it was AWESOME. This is a very hard but fair golf course, one I would really really really like to play again, and really really soon.
Here are some photos from my day at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.... |

Here we are at the lovely, and very private Olympic Club in San Francisco. This is an opening par 5, big downhill dogleg right, and I pared it.

This is a ridiculously hard par 3. Its the third hole on the course, I hit it in the bunker, and so did this kid we were playing with, but then he flew his in from there too.

This is a very short par 4, and I tried to reach it on my drive. No luck, and then ended up with bogey from about 80 yards away.

This is the first look at the clubhouse at the Olympic Club, on the ninth hole, please don't ask how I did on this hole.

These are the guys we were playing with, both from Louisiana, but I didn't hold that against them. They were really nice and fun to play with.

Here's a fox on the course, they say not to feed them, but we did. To bad it was taking a poop right after I took the photo.

This is a look at the back to back par 5's on the course, numbers 16 and 17. When the U.S. Open is there in 2012, one will be a really long par 4.

Well, here is the closing hole. A place where Payne Stewart got royaly screwed by hitting his ball in a divot. I didn't have that problem, I just bladed my wedge on my own.

4 Balls. A fantastic experience. We had an awesome caddie who knew the course really well, and I didn't play all that bad. |
