June 15th , 2005

Well, it was off to Lovely Novoto, CA last weekend to play the StoneTree Golf course. Let me say not too bad of a drive, a really nice day... that is until we started playing golf at one of the hardest and not really most fair golf courses we ever played. Very tight, very hilly and basically no fun. Sorry to kill the suspense, but I'm not gonna even pretend that I can stand this place. I amnever playing here again, ever. Too many goddamn times this course takes the driver completely out of your hands (I still hit mine) and forces you to lay up. That to me is NOT a fun or good golf course.

Alright, I'm done bitching (for the moment). Here's a look at my afternoon at StoneTree....

Here we are at the lovely Stone Tree golf clubs warm up/practice facility. A good course has a range, not a goddamn stupid ass net!!!

Here's a look at the first hole at StoneTree. Not too bad of a starting hole, but after this, it's crap... pure crap.

Here's a look at one of the first Par 5's of the day. A very nice dog leg right. If you notice, the wind has almost blown everything down... fun.

This is a look from the number 8 tee box. A great site overlooking the entire golf course. By this point, I'm pissed off at this entire course and this entire place, but I'm not quite ready to jump off a cliff just yet.

Here is the Par 3 8th hole. After playin this hole, I've completely had it. Now I'm ready to jump.

The par 3 10th hole... Sure it doesn't look like much, but when the wind is howling in your face, this plays about 3 clubs longer than the 150 yards it's measured at.

Here is what could be the worst hole I have ever seen or played in all my years of being alive. This is a Par 5 where you really should hit an iron on to make sure your even on the goddamn fairway. I HATE THIS HOLE AND THIS ENTIRE PLACE DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So here is my overall rating for StoneTree...
Staff/
Service:
2 1/2 Balls. The guys in the shop were really nice, and so were the cart kids. But we had a booked tee time about a week before and they had us change it because they booked a tournament on top of us. Unacceptable.
Greens:
2 Balls. Wow, I didn't know that we were in the U.S. Open. The greens were WAY too hard to where they didn't hold any shots, and were so fast you couldn't judge speed anywhere.
Fairways:
2.5 Balls. Again, I guess we're playing the U.S. freakin' Open here playing really narrow and kind of hard to hit fairways on a course that gets A TON of wind.
Price:

We didn't have to pay since they screwed up our tee times anyways, but to pay as much as they wanted is crazy.

Overall
Rating:

1.5 Balls. This is the worst rating I have ever given a golf course on this website ever. This is not because I played bad golf. This is because everything was going against this place right out of the gate. First of all, having us change our tee times was absolutley ridiculous. How the hell do you book a goddamn tournament on top of people??? Next, I showed the goddamned stupid ass "practice range"... that is the main reason this place is getting the low rating. How can such a "nice" course not have anywhere to warm up?????? I mean, for where it's located (in the Bay Area), don't they think people would want to "Warm" up for crying out loud?????? I am never playing this course again.
