Since this was Super Bowl weekend NO good movies came out. At least nothing that a MAN would go out and see. So I wanted to see the Hurt Locker, and it was on pay per view so I got it. This movie is getting all sorts of hype and has been nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Let me just say, I don't get it. I mean I sat back and watched this movie and don't get why it's soooooooooo hyped. The movie is about guys in Iraq who are there to detonate bombs, and the shitty part of the movie is that they actually do it. I'm not saying that those guys aren't great and heroic doing that job. I know I would piss my pants in those situations, but in the movies as sick as this is we want to see the bombs win some times. And sure a couple of times the bombs do win but we don't get to see the body parts exploding and getting fake blood all over the camera's. This movie is supposed to be about how the main guy in the movie does this because it is such a rush for him, and he doesn't care about anyone else or their safety because he wants the rush soooooo bad. I know that there are people out there like that, but in our military?????? I thought that soldiers were given orders, and if they didn't follow them they would be punished for doing so. The main guy does plenty of crap to get him demoted if not kicked out of the military but nothing is done to him. Hell, at one point in the movie he is congratulated for doing what he did rather than following protocol and endangering the lives of other soldiers. Once again, Hollywood telling us that our military is full of nothing but brash adrenaline jockeys out there. I have to say that I HATED this movie!!!!!!!!!!
