March 2nd, 2009 SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
So, I know that I just bitched about how LAME the academy awards were last week, and I am now about to review the movie that won best picture. Slumdog Millionaire. I went into this movie not knowing what to think or expect from it. I mean I saw enough crap leading up to the awards that I knew he won the money, so that part of the story was blown for me. And I really could care less about the love story in the movie and how "touching" it was. I do have to say that the way this movie was put together, and the story of the movie was pretty damn good. I would have preferred a few more flying carpets but maybe if they make a sequel. The movie is about some kid who goes on TV so this girl he likes will see him. The questions that are asked are easy for him to answer because they all seem to reflect back on a part of his life, and that is how he knows the answers. They do think he's cheating somehow and torture him for doing so which was pretty cool but they didn't have that for too long in the movie. I have to say that I kind of liked all the main actors in the movie, minus the cute kids because they got to be really annoying, even more so when they were at the awards shows. I was really surprised that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt didn't take any of those kids home thinking that they were little trophies. I have to say that I was happy that Slumdog won best picture because it was a good movie, and I actually liked it. Especially when a kid jumped in poop.
