THE EXPRESS

Well this was another TERRIBLE weekend at the movies, so I thought about doing a good football movie since the NFL is kicking off this weekend. I recently saw The Express on HBO and thought that wasn't a bad movie to do. This is the movie about Ernie Davis, the first black player to ever win the Heisman trophy. He did so playing at Syracuse the same place that Jim Brown played before him and SHOULD have won the trophy. The movie stars Dennis Quaid as his coach, and let me just say I'm about sick and tired of Dennis Quaid being in sports movies. Thank God he was only the coach in this. I don't know who he's trying to fool but he has less athletic ability than my ass, so just be a coach. I was really enjoying this movie up until Syracuse went to a bowl game and were going to play for the National Championship. You see I believe the year was 1950 or so and they played the Texas Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas for the title. This is where the movie takes a big SHIT!!!!!!!!! I know that it is a part of history, but do we really ever need to see Syracuse beat Texas????????? I mean I would have loved to give this movie a happy face, but instead I have to tell you just how much it SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's an idea have them face somebody else in the championship game. The people in Hollywood seem to change history all the time anyway so why not now. I have to tell you that I HATED HATED HATED this piece of crap movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
