Rob's Favorite Items From The Rich Person's Christmas Catalogs Over the years my wife and I have splurged on ourselves quite a bit, which has gotten us placed on every high end catalog mailing list from Nieman Marcus to Net Jets. This Christmas, like any other, there are some truly obnoxious things available:
I decided to highlight two catalogs in particular; the Tiffany and Louis Vuitton gift catalogs. These are not sent to most people and there’s a reason why; they are filled with crap most people wouldn’t dream of buying. None of the pages have prices on them…if you want to know how much something is, you refer to a special insert that comes with the catalog and acts as an index.
On page 24 of the Louis catalog is this obnoxious display; somewhere in all of that puke is a set of earring and rings that are supposed to look like butterflies and are encrusted with diamonds and sapphires. Ugly as hell and your for just $39,000 for the earrings and $39,000 for the ring. (If you have a really good eye you’ll see that there is also a chain and pendant on the page that rounds out the collection. That’s only $5500).
This is the page I keep finding open on my nightstand. That’s a crocodile leather Louis purse that apparently my wife would love; and I would love to buy it for her except for the fact that it costs $38,000. For a purse.
Inside the Tiffany gift catalog we have these audaciously ugly dragonfly brooches in 18K gold to stick on your mom’s blouse and make her look ridiculous for just $40,000 each.
Or perhaps you’d like an 18k gold and silver clip of a starfish for only $190,000…Yes, that’s one hundred ninety thousand dollars.
Right next to it is a colorful shell pin that comes in at $250,000, filled with sapphires.
This is the ugliest ring I have ever seen and some old douche will be wearing it next year…$20,000.
And then there’s this. This is actually what inspired me to share this catalog with you because this is such an outlandish piece of garbage and excess all at once; It is a brooch made of white gold diamonds and onyx, looking like a god damned zebra. Truly something to behold at $50,000. |
