UPDATE 3 - Rob's Wife Janell's Accident Recovery
May 4th, 2010

My wife Janell was in a bad car accident on March 13th and won’t be able to walk until early June as a result of a fractured right knee, two back fractures, a broken left tibia and a shattered left ankle. She is recovering beautifully and is doing everything she can to maintain some sort of normalcy in her world as you’ll see…

The only form of cooking my wife likes to do is baking so I bring her everything she needs and she whips up brownies in bed!

Everyone always comments on Janell’s gorgeous eyelashes, which she freely admits are fake. Since she can’t go to her lash expert, Vanessa, we instead had Vanessa come to her.

Back to perfect. In fact, on the day of Janell’s emergency surgery she was coherent enough to ask the anesthesiologist to make sure her eyelashes weren’t taped so that they still looked good after surgery. That got a good laugh from the operating room.

Not to be outdone, Janell’s hairstylist Katie came to the house and turned our kitchen into a salon using pots and pans as hair washing tubs.

One of the things Janell has to do to support her thrashed left leg is constantly wear a protective boot, which we remove daily for a few minutes only to find that it is filled with dead skin and an unbelievable stench of rotten foot.

Once the overwhelming smell has been adjusted to, I have the daily task of changing the dressing from her surgery wound.

And here we have the scab covering the area where, on March 13th, I was lucky enough to see my wife’s bone popping out of.

Our dog Shep always comes by to take a whiff of my wife’s stank ass feet. So far he has passed out every time.

Before the new bandage goes on, I have to massage Janell’s legs with a coarse, sandpaper like glove. As she heals, her nerve endings are coming back and this process, while unpleasant for her, reduces the pain and sensitivity as she heals.

Finally, a new bandage is applied and she is good to go. Greatest husband ever.
