UPDATE 4 - Rob's Wife Janell's Accident Recovery
May 18th, 2010

Time for a quick update on my wife, Janell, as she recovers from her car accident of March 13th (Y’know, the one that left her with two useless legs and a broken back for 3 months. Other than that, it wasn’t serious)

As promised, here is the bill for her entire hospital stay, including the emergency services the day of the accident and 12 days following in ICU. Nice.

Last week we had to head back to the trauma clinic to have the doctor inspect on her leg what was either a blood boil, a stitch abscess or an infection; it turned out to be a stitch abscess, which needed to be lanced with a fine needle.

Once the flow started, blood and a little puss made a nice trail down Janell’s leg, but the fun was just starting.

Next up, they had to encourage the wound to full bleed out by actually inserting the head of a Q-tip INTO the open gash.

Next, look closely, those are metal tweezers now being poked INTO the wound.

And then he actually shoved medicated gauze INTO the wound to stop the bleeding and stave off any infection…

Leaving a lovely tail poking out of Janell’s leg, which we yanked out the following day. As my wife said; compared to everything she’s been through in the last 2 months, this was nothing.
