Rob's March Vacation
March 31st, 2009

This most recent vacation was a “working vacation” of sorts for me on a variety of levels; it involved actual work, home improvement, and some socializing…

Let’s start with some work…as in…taxes! Here I am preparing files and paperwork for our accountant. What a fun way to begin a week off.

My wife Janell and I were able to find time to see some friends while on vacation. Here we are getting ready to head out to dinner with our friends, John and Connie. Unfortunately, our stupid camera died at dinner and we have no photos from the meal!

Next night, more socializing! Here we are leaving the house to go to dinner at our neighbors.

Here we are at Ken and Sherry’s house…if it looks similar to house that’s because they’re our neighbors idiot…weren’t you reading the last caption? SAME NEIGHBORHOOD! Hello! Custom tract homes!

For some reason, I am wearing $800 Prada shoes and Sherry, the hostess, is wearing $10 dirty pink slippers.

And then, Sherry burned the rolls.

In the end, we had a great dinner of tri tip, au gratin potatoes and spinach salad…some it prepared directly from the RAD cookbook. We were going to play poker after dinner, but we’re all such losers that we were too sleepy by 9pm and called it a night.

Back to work; part of our week included home improvements like buying and hanging hysterical art…look! The cop is giving the wine grapes a sobriety test! HA!

More work; we had a staff meeting at my house, complete with the production team of Nick, Brandon and Cristi (Nick is the fat one). They even video taped the meeting for our membership website.

After setting up the video cameras, the production team made their way to the game room and Cristi schooled Brandon and Nick on Galaga.

Eventually, the whole team assembled in the formal dining room for our meeting

A few weeks ago my mom had a birthday and turned 100 years old so we had her over for dinner..

I figure that if you’re 100, you deserve a nice meal from your son, so we went all out with homemade guacamole, Caesar salad, blue cheese au gratin potatoes and Pork prime rib.

Since my mom knows that Janell and I have no plans of having kids anytime soon, she refers to Shep and Nellie as her grandkids; thus they were on perfect behavior enjoying the gorgeous spring weather.

Dessert was Janell’s department; once I changed into my now famous $300 velour sweats, I sat down to homemade brownies stuffed with marshmallow cream…mmmm….sugar coma….

I also spent a lot of time kicking my wife’s ass at various games like UNO and Connect 4.

My wife made me take these pictures because I have created her new favorite recipe; we call it Pizza Pasta. It’s a pasta dish that tastes like you’re eating a combination pizza. If you’re lucky, I’ll post the recipe soon.

We also had David from Silverado Stone replace two sinks for us in the bar and kitchen area. The old sinks were stainless steel and the new ones are black granite. (he also installed a garbage disposal under the bar which is awesome).

And finally, here I am at Whitney Oaks Golf Club WITHOUT my fat friend Arnie, who never joined me despite 4 rounds of golf during vacation. I am told by a little birdie that Arnie’s shanks are back and he has become the often heard about but rarely seen SHANKA-APATOMOUS
