Mother's Day At Williams Manor
March 11th, 2010

Even with my wife, Janell recovering from her crippling car accident of almost two months ago, Mother’s Day was still an event at Williams Manor…

My wife awoke to a special flowery surprise from her “kids,” the two dogs and the two cats who yes, even signed her card for her.

My mom came over for the day so Janell got up into her wheelchair for the afternoon…

…And then promptly got to work wrapping our Mother’s Day present.

As you can see, her attitude is totally positive.

But I was more than happy to help.

All done and ready for my crazy mother to arrive.

Mom has arrived and she immediately hugs her favorite member of the house.

And here she is as I present to her the very special gift I picked out just for her…

...A book of coupons from Costco!

This is the card Janell and I  gave my mom. I picked it out, can you tell?

For dinner, I prepared one of mom’s favorite dishes, A rack of pork with roasted fingerling potatoes and herbed white beans, all of which will be available in the 2nd RAD cookbook, out this fall.

My wife picked out mom’s present this year which is some girly plant thing that mom seemed to really like. Whatever. I still don’t know why we buy her gifts since we let her live in our condo that we own RENT FREE. But I digress…

Here is Janell with 2 of her kids, Shep and Nellie. She has been working on the trick of making Shep kiss her on command. A vital trick for a security dog to know in my wife’s world.

And it looks as though she has taught him beautifully, although I think he’s trying to slip her the tongue in that last picture. Son of a bitch.

And here is Shep wanting a cigarette.
