Rob's German Shepherd Shep's 4th Birthday Getaway As we revealed last year, when my wife and I travel, our German Shepherds either stay home and guard the house, or we sometimes leave Shep and Nellie in Garden Valley, CA, deep in the woods nestled between Auburn and El Dorado hills past the famous Forest Hill Bridge (most recently used in the Vin Diesel film “XXX).
Here is the birthday boy, Shep, in all his glory.
And here is what Nellie thinks of Shep getting all of the attention. She’s a brat.
I promised Shep a steak dinner for his birthday, and Dogwoods is always barbequing for the pooches
Nellie of course was not far behind, waiting for her share of Shep’s birthday meal
Eventually the food was ready. Dogwoods cooks like this all the time for all of their guests…they really spoil the doggies.
They also torture the doggies by making them wait for their dinner. Shep and Nellie are stalking the table waiting for what they know as their 5 star meal.

And then, like God on the 7th day, they rested.
Shortly after eating, it was time to play and get wet.
The thing I think Shep and Nellie love most about Dogwoods is being with other dogs. They always make new friends and play around
Of course, no matter how friendly Shep might be, he still has to be a dick and herd and dominate a few willing participants.
Eventually, all of the dogs run, play, wrestle and do what dogs do.
