Rob's Dog Shep Goes To Dogwoods Resort
May 25th, 2010

With Memorial Day fast approaching, so are summer vacations and as many of you leave town, you will need somewhere safe to leave your precious pups…head to where my dogs go as they did recently when my wife was recovering from her car accident and we needed some help getting them the care they needed. Nellie was still recovering from her surgery, so the pictures here all include Shep and his adopted pals at Dogwoods.

When my wife and I travel, our German Shepherds either stay home and guard the house, or we sometimes leave Shep and Nellie in Garden Valley, CA, deep in the woods nestled between Auburn and El Dorado hills past the famous Forest Hill Bridge (most recently used in the Vin Diesel film “XXX").

By popular demand we happily revealed Shep and Nellie’s oasis in the forest and your response has been overwhelming! It’s called Dog Woods Resort. Owner and operator Theresa is soooooo thrilled with all of the RAD listeners who have contacted her and so are Janell and I! It truly is the greatest place in the world for your dogs! Dog Woods can be reached at 530-333-2117. Or check out their website, www.dog-woodsresort.com

This, of course, is the star if the show, Shep, my German Shepherd.

Usually Shep takes over Dogwoods and dominates the place whenever he is there. On this trip, he had his hands full with Taegan the Great Dane…

And HA HA…Shep finally got taken down by another dog!

And the of course, he immediately decided to chase and pick on a much smaller dog. Dick.

The enormous cow-like dogs in these pictures with Shep are three Saint Bernards that all belong to fellow RAD listeners who found Dogwoods thanks to us and had their pups boarded there while they were on their honeymoon.

Anytime Shep is at dogwoods he finds a new girlfriend; this time it was chocolate lab Sequoia.

Shep also spent plenty of time sparring and snarling with his arch-nemesis, Tucker the Viszla.

Here, some bitch is running off with Shep’s ball.

Shep with a stick.

Shep tired.

Shep, the jackass, cooling down after a long hard day.

In the end, this is what Dogwoods is all about; 18 acres of woods and nothing but fun for the dogs.
