Rob's Dogs Shep & Nellie Go To Dogwoods Resort - Part 2
November 2nd, 2010

When my wife and I travel, our German Shepherds either stay home and guard the house, or we sometimes leave Shep and Nellie in Garden Valley, CA, deep in the woods nestled between Auburn and El Dorado hills past the famous Forest Hill Bridge (most recently used in the Vin Diesel film “XXX).

By popular demand we happily revealed Shep and Nellie’s oasis in the forest and your response has been overwhelming! It’s called Dog-Woods Resort. Owner and operator Theresa is soooooo thrilled with all of the RAD listeners who have contacted her and so are Janell and I! It truly is the greatest place in the world for your dogs! Dog Woods can be reached at 530-333-2117. Or check out their website, www.dog-woodsresort.com

During our recent trip to Hawaii, Shep and Nellie spent a week at their favorite place. One of the reasons Dogwoods resort is so great is they organize fun games like this “Nellie Look-a-like” contest.

The game was over when Shep tried to enter. Dummy.

Once the dogs are out as a pack roaming the 18 acres, I think I have figured out how Shep takes charge; he ignored the group. He just aloofly circles a small area, basically saying, “no, I don’t want to be where the rest of you are…”

Until all of the other dogs can’t stand it and come over to see what Shep is so interested in, and then they follow him into the woods. What a con artist.

Eventually the whole pack makes their way deep into the woods to frolick and play eventually culminating with Sage the yellow Lab climbing a tree, and Nellie thinking about it, and then wisely deciding not to.

Oh no…Shep can’t figure out which was is Nellie.

After a long day of chase, tag and butt-sniff, the doggies like to cool down and drink each other’s filth off of one another by taking turns in the pool…

…Until some jackass decides to plop down and hog the whole thing to himself while he relaxes.
