Shep and Nellie's Summer Vacation Shep and Nellie, the German Shepherds of Williams Manor were once again privileged to spend part of their summer at the greatest vacation spot for dogs, dogwoods resort in Garden Valley, CA. Run with the most amazing amount of love, care and knowledge by Theresa and her sister Helen, Dogwoods is a dog’s heaven on Earth, as you will see. Many of you have already contacted Dogwoods after seeing what a canine oasis it is and I can’t tell you how happy I am for all of our loyal listener dogs who will be having the time of their life at dogwoods. The visit begins with Shep and Nellie looking longingly beyond the fence… Which lasts for about 14 seconds, until they realize that there are a ton of canine friends on hand for them to harass and play with. One of the greatest thing about Dogwoods is the socialization, which allows dogs to be dogs with other dogs. Here is Nellie in a private meeting with Lily the Golden Retriever. At this point, Nellie is not sure if Lily wants to play or rumble. Apparently, they have decided to play and are now best of friends…
Nellie and Newt disregard Shep’s warning and decide to get closer.
Here’s a brand new activity at Dogwoods, mud wrestling! Watch as Shep, Nellie and their friends turn into dirty dogs, most noted as Nellie goes from her usual pristine white to a muddy, dirty girl. After a long day of sniffing, wrestling and establishing territory, Shep and Nellie retire their own private cottage, which all dogs get at Dogwoods. The next morning brings a brisk walk in the woods with all of Shep and Nellie’s new friends. Along with being around a ton of other great dogs, Shep and Nellie also get plenty of time together to just be brother/sister, boyfriend/girlfriend or whatever it is they think of themselves. Shep and Nellie together eventually leads to all kinds of wrestling. Plenty of water filled pools are placed throughout Dogwoods resort for the dogs to play and cool off in. There are also plenty of toys, including balls, to play with…
This is my new favorite picture of Shep and Nellie. How adorable is this? They are totally enthralled by the sight of barbequing meat right there at their eye level… Every day the girls at Dogwoods barbeque fresh sirloin and chicken for the dogs…here we see my dogs being rude and impatient… In the end, the point of all of this wrestling, mud, playing, eating socializing and more is that the dogs get tired…very very tired… …which eventually makes them just plain pathetic.
We close with a collage of awesome photos of Shep and Nellie, the two greatest dogs on the planet that I have ever met. When they came home from this 5 day stay at Dogwoods, they almost literally slept for 4 straight days. They can’t wait to go back…
