Rob's "Wii-kend" Part 1 We’ve been preparing for weeks at Williams Manor for the “Rob and Janell Nintendo Wii-Kend,” which came and went March 12-14. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the Rob Wii-kend, while my wife spent her days in the hospital recovering from a semi-serious car accident. Both of legs were broken in multiple areas and she’ll be on full bed recovery once she comes home for many many weeks. I will use the time to become an expert at being ready to kick her hobbled ass at Wii. When we last left off, our 82 inch TV was sitting alone on the floor, waiting for its’ stand and the Wii system to arrive Saturday morning, the stand was scheduled to be delivered (and the Wii had already arrived) so I spent the early part of the day getting the TV ready for its new home. Nothing says fun like run-away cables and wires. At 11am, while Janell was out running errands, the new TV stand arrived and was immediately inspected by Shep. Next up…begin placing the cable and satellite and sound system boxes in the cabinet… And then the phone rang. Oopsie…it’s the police department telling me that my wife is on the way to the hospital after a serious car accident. She spent Saturday afternoon in a 6 hour surgery repairing a broken knee, shattered ankle and multiple other leg fractures… While she was being cut, Dawn’s husband dumb-dumb came to my aid and offered me comfort by helping me to finish setting up the TV. Which, by the way, is so big that if I stand behind it, on my tippy toes, only my hand can be seen. Once the TV was set up it was time to set up the Wii, starting with creating my own personal character…looks just like me! We started with a little batting practice… And then got to bowling, where in my very first game I shot a 162; that’s a shitty game in bowling, but for my first time on the Wii it was good enough to destroy Dawn’s crappy high game of 135. Next up was a little boxing to release some of my pent up aggressions at life…and then the phone rang. Janell was coming out of surgery and it was time for me to see her. I got to the hospital as she came out of the anesthesia and stayed until midnight, then got back Sunday morning at 5am. Sorry to say I have not practiced much on the Wii, but there’s more to come. |
