Arnie What's Up with Golf

As you've probably figured out by now, I do a LOT of golfing! Because I get to see a lot of courses and play a lot of greens, I've decided to have a do keep an official reviews page for all the courses I play.

June 29, 2007

Ok, everyone we haven't done this in a while but here is an update to the review section of the golf page. Everyone wants to know where is the best course in town to play hows the pace of play all that good stuff. Here are some of my favorite area courses.

1. Winchester

Ok, so this is a private course but all and all the best course in town to play. The rounds go by quick there because it is private so for the pace of play, the toughness of the course I give this the hands down best course in town award.

2. Morgan Creek

This course was just rated as one of the best new courses in America. It is for sure one of the best in town as well. The pace of play is always pretty fast and the course is ALWAYS in great shape. Sure there are a couple of really stupid holes but all and all it is a really tough test for anyone's golfing ability.

3. Catta Verdera

I think that this is probably my favorite club in town except for the fact that since I'm not a member I can't play before 11 am. That really sucks on the weekend when you want to play but during the week this is a hard course to beat. The greens are always fast and true and there are a couple of par 5's that are really easy to knock it on in two on.

4. Whitney Oaks

Ok so I used to hate this course because jackass Johnny Miller designed it. Well he has taken his name off I heard since they redesigned it because he's a jerk. Which means I LOVE IT!!!!!!! The one bad thing about this course is that everyone knows about it and it gets tons and tons of play. If you get out there early enough you can get your round in under 4 hours.

5. Lincoln Hills

Sure this course was a lot better when it was only 18 holes and the old farts didn't run the place like they pretty much do now. But if your having a rough go of things in your golf game this is the perfect course to fix it. It's wide open and gets you back in the right frame of mind when your playing bad. That is unless there are a ton of old farts on the course waiting to die right in front of you.

Out of the Area

Old Greenwood

So if your up for a trip into the mountains this is the ONLY course to play. It's in Truckee and worth the drive. I usually HATE Jack Nicholas designed courses but this one is different. Why????? Because it's good, that's why. The layout is not only a challenge of golf, but its really pretty for all you sissy nature lovers out there who want a "Pretty" golf course to play.

Please feel free to drop me a line and let me know if there are any course that I have left off. You will be pretty much wrong in doing so because I think that these are the best courses this town has to offer, the other courses that I didn't put on here are slow, crappy and sometimes put 5 somes infront of you and tell you to enjoy your day, up yours you Animal named courses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
