Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives So here is my wine review for the week of October 1st... COLUMBIA CREST MERLOT-CABERNET SAUVIGNON TWO VINES 2003
Description: Columbia Crest is a low-end winery out of Washington State that, similar to the Mondavi model of the 1990’s is producing what seems like 10,000 different types of wine every year. Their business model clearly revolves around volume, yet they have been producing a few quality bottles of wine every year. The trick is knowing which ones to buy and matching them to your palette. How and when I drank it: Friday afternoon September 28, beginning at 2pm How to get it: Almost every place that sells wine sells versions of Columbia Crest, the trick is finding the particular bottle you want. They sell wine on their website as well. How Much: At the winery, about $9 per bottle My Thoughts: Typical for Columbia Crest, this is a young, fruity red wine that is perfect for people with immature palettes and/or people that can’t handle or don’t like th tannic bite that comes from big, full, developed red wines. This is a great wine for someone that loves white wine or white zin, but wants to drink a red wine for the health benefits. The flavors all exude fruit like blue and black berry and raspberry with just a little coffee in the background. I wouldn’t drink this wine, but it’s a great wine for the right person because it is well made and not thin. Overall Score: For the price, it’s hard to impugn a wine that is well made but simply doesn’t deliver what I like. 3 vines. COLUMBIA CREST MERLOT-CABERNET SAUVIGNON TWO VINES 2003 =
