Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives So here is my wine review for the week of June 10th... V. SATTUI FAMILY RED 2005
Description: I admit from the start that this is an unfair set-up on my part; I have always hated this winery, finding it to be overrated and living off its' plumb spot on highway 29 as tourists first enter Napa; additionally this red wine blend is 62% zinfandel, a horribly overrated grape. Lucky for you, I have an open mind. How to Get it: It's available at some BevMos, some wine merchants, on-line, and at the winery in Napa. How Much: At the winery, $16 per bottle. My Thoughts: Shockingly putrid. This wine is supposed to be "grat for barbeques, pizza and other casual occasions," claims the winery on their website. I would say it's more appropriate to be used as a treat for your plants. Somehow this wine achieves the almost impossible combination of being heavily sweet while thin and dirty all at once. Overall Score: Pa-tooey as I have always called them continues their unvarnished record in my experience. 0 vines
