Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives So here is my wine review for the week of September 25th, 2006... BENNET LANE WINERY MAXIMUS 2004
Description: The 2004 cabs are starting to hit the market and thanks to our Sacramento GM, the "Big Kahuna," for this bottle as a birthday present. Bennett Lane is a Napa Valley winery growing in prestige as their red wines continue to consistently score 90+ ratings from critics. How to Get it: It's available at the winery in Napa, occasionally at Bevmo and on-line. How Much: Per bottle, the winery wants about $35. My Thoughts: This is a blend of an undisclosed variety of Napa red wine grapes that produces a very nice drink and makes me curious about the winery's upper-end Cabs, which are currently fetching up to $100 per bottle. This bottle is a classic Napa meritage with subdued bit present tannins, a vanilla finish and fruity overtones offset by coffee and chocolate flavors.
