Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives
So here is my wine review for the week of April 17th, 2005...
Robert Mondavi Cabernet 2001

Description: The 2001 vintage of reds in Napa was the best since 1999 and overall was excellent. Unlike 1997 however, not every single red from every single winery was a safe bet in the 2001.
How to Get it: I found this bottle at Sam’s Club in March, 2005. You can get it at the winery in Napa, some grocery stores, wine speciality stores and most restaurants.
.
How Much:At Sam’s, I paid $18 per bottle. It is generally a $25 bottle in stores, $30-40 in restaurants.
My Thoughts: This wine is lame. Mondavi has lost so much over the past decade and this bottle illustrates that. The wine is thin with little flavor and even less bite. There is nothing appealing about this wine. It almost tastes watered down
Overall Score: I would never buy or drink this wine again. On my 5 vine scale, I give this wine 1.
