Wine Reviews

Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives

So here is my wine review for the week of June 22nd, 2009...

SCHRADER CABERNET SAUVIGNON T6 2006

Description: Schrader is another in a long line of family, boutique Napa wineries that has sprung into prominence in the past decade. Always known for their high quality Cabs, their 2006 T6 has been garnering rave reviews across the wine world.

How and when I drank it: Sunday June 14th  at my house.

How to get it: It’s not easy. The Schrader winery website has a waiting list to order new wines; beyond that, it takes an internet search (where you will no doubt pay more than the list price) or finding it on a restaurant wine list.

How Much: The winery lists the bottle at $125

My Thoughts: It is easy to see why everyone is raving about this wine; it’s beyond good…it is spectacular. Every year, excellent, expensive wines come along and now and then, every few years a true collectible like this pops up. This is, even at only 3 years old, a spectacular, balanced, full, wonderful red wine that goes from dark fruit to chocolate to herb to a marvelous vanilla finish. One of the best wines I have ever drunk.

Overall Score: If you can find it and afford it, buy it and put it away. This bottle will only get better and more valuable with time
5 Vines.
