Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives
So here is my wine review for the week of June 19th, 2005...
Simi Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

Description: A good cab will be big, full, easy to drink and some tannins that will cause it to have a bite on the way down that should produce a pleasant, not stinging sensation.
How to Get it: I got this bottle from Sam's Club for $15. It is available from the most wine specialty stores and grocery stores.
How Much: It is generally a $18-25 bottle in stores.
My Thoughts: This wine smells much better than it tastes. On the nose, it has the appearance of a good cab. It produces aromas of oak and vanilla, like a great cab should, and even when it first hits the tongue it has the hard to find quality of "bubbles dancing on the tongue," which can be a great sensation when followed by a great flavor. That's where this wine falls apart. It tastes like leather and bad raspberry and is quite flat in overall flavor.
Overall Score: Since it's not expensive, it is saved the dreaded "zero vine" score but this wine sucks and shouldn't be drunk by anything human. On my 5 vine scale, I give this wine a 1.
