Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives So here is my wine review for the week of July 24th, 2006... STERLING CABERNET 2003
Description: This is a popular wine found on many wine lists of mid-range restaurants, easily accesible at warehouse stores and sold in many grocery stores. This has not ever been a great red wine, but it is usually a solid $20 bottle. How to Get it: It's all over the place including all BevMo stores, Costco, Sam's, wine stores and most grocery stores as well as numerous restaurant wine lists. How Much: It's about $20 per bottle. My Thoughts: This has never been a "big" cab, featuring a lasting finish with long, lingering flavors. Rather, it is, historically, a somewhat thin red with fruity flavors that is easy to drink. This 2003 has a more earthy flavor than previous Sterling cabs but still goes down smoothly. Some may find the combination f mineral and thinness to be a turn-off.
