Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives So here is my wine review for the week of October 22nd... STERLING CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2007
Description: I try to review almost every year of the Sterling releases because it has a very accessible, affordable Napa red of fairly consistent quality. It’s far from being a top-end red wine, but it also doesn’t suck by any strech of the imagination How and when I drank it: Monday afternoon October 15, beginning at 2pm How to get it: Sterling is almost everywhere, including most grocery stores, most warehouse locations of Sam’s and Costco and almost any wine shop and certainly at their winery in Napa and on-line How Much: At the winery, about $20 per bottle My Thoughts: Almost exactly what you’d expect from Sterling usually, although a little disappointing given the fact that most 2004 cabs are shaping up to be outstanding. Usually, a wine likes Sterling ups its game when the rest of a vintage does so also. This is an average wine that is a little thin, herby and earthy. It’s far from bad, but it’s no special occasion wine either. Overall Score: If you can get this wine under $20, it’s a value wine and worth the price for a Tuesday night drink. It will neither disappoint you nor blow you away. 3 vines STERLING CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2007 =
