Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives So here is my wine review for the week of January 30th, 2006...
Description: Located along Highway 29 as you enter the heart of Napa Valley, St. Supery has grown tremendously in popularity in the last 5 years. They make a lot of wines, some great, many fair. How to Get it: This wine is found in some grocery stores, many wine specialty stores, some warehouse outlets, on-line and at the winery. My Thoughts: St Supery suffers from what I call the "Mondavi Syndrome," a situation in which a winery simply makes too many types of wine and therefore produces a lot of mediocre products, rather than choosing to make just a few products, all of which are spectacular. This merlot is indicative of that. It's fine. Not great, not bad, and not worth $25. I'd buy a case of Rombauer Merlot long before I'd touch this wine.
