Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives So here is my wine review for the week of March 26th... Flora Springs Trilogy 2004
Description: Flora Springs remains a fun, quality winery when visiting Napa, located in St Helena on Highway 29 next to Dean and Deluca. For the few years, Flora Springs has produced the gamut with great vintages of Trilogy, lame attempts at variations on their cabs and middle of the road varietals like their sangiovese. The Trilogy is still their flagship, and is their red wine blend. How to Get it: It's available at some Bevmos, some grocery stores, most wine merchants and on-line at the winery in Napa. How Much: About $65. My Thoughts: This is what a Napa red must taste and feel like to charge more than $50. As the growth of the area has exploded, wineries such as Provenance have found ways to produce great cabs for under $40. To ask more than $50 for any Napa red, it must be a full bodied, smooth drinking, well balanced wine and this year's Trilogy accomplishes that. Classic Trilogy in structure with berry, oak and vanilla blended perfectly with a nice smooth finish. A very nice bottle of wine. Overall Score: This is a great special occasion wine which you can drink now or save for years. 4 ½ vines.
