Wine Reviews

Rob's "Wine of the Week" Archives

So here is my wine review for the week of August 1st, 2005...

Pride 2004 Chardonnay

Description: Chardonnay is the Cadillac of white wine, which is very popular in the heat. Served at 50 degrees, a great chardonnay will cool you off and refresh you.

How to Get it: I got this just released bottle at the winery. You can find it in some wine shops.

How Much: It is generally $40-45 in most stores, $60-$75 in restaurants.

My Thoughts:
This is an amazing white wine for very specific tastes. The Pride Chardonnay has always had, and continues to have very strong flavors of oak and toast. This is not a buttery, fruity chardonnay. This wine carries a ton of flavor, including a faint aftertaste of crème brule. If you like your whites sweet, avoid this at all costs.

Overall Score: I love my chardonnays complex and full of oak of toast. This is yet another amazing entry from Pride. On my 5 vine scale, I give this wine a 4½ .
