Hi everyone it's me, Shep, the German Shepherd with some new adorable photos of myself and some of my closest friends. I turned two years old at the end of April and my Dad keeps telling me it's time for me to grow up and act like the "dog of the house," whatever that means. I know that he's been making me work more, patrol the house more, bark more, and pretend to eat bad guys more so when I get a chance to play and be silly, I sure take advantage of it!

Here I am in my pitiful excuse of a yard. Mom and Dad don't make me live out here, but this is where I play a lot…it sure would be nice if they mixed in some grass wouldn't it? This is one of my favorite toys my tire on a rope.
xxxx
It's baseball season now and Dad's favorite team is the Oakland A's. Every now and then he and mommy go to games and leave me at home to guard the house.

This is my girlfriend, Clio who lives with Aunt Kelly. Look…Clio is in my bed! I am such a stud!

This is Clio and me exploring my horrible back yard. It's hard to impress a girl with weeds.

Here's Megan at Doggie class. She's so patriotic.

That's Megan peering over the door which sure looks like a lot of fun

And now... "Shep" the dog presents his most recent photos...
"Hi everyone, it's me, Shep, the German Shepherd. This Summer my Mommy and Daddy left me to go to some stupid place called Pebble Beach. Fine, whatever. I got to spend the weekend with my girlfriend Clio and her cool mommy, my trainer, Kelly. By the way, Kelly wanted me to tell all of you listener people that she loves meeting you and working with you but just so you know she does not pet-sit. She just did it for me because I am the coolest dog ever, next to my girlfriend Clio (who by the way is also a celebrity. Kelly had her on UPN 31 a few weeks ago. Clio and I compare notes about what it's like to be a pet-celebrity). Here are some pictures of my summer vacation." |

Hi, it's me, Shep Aren't I cute? |

Here I am in Kelly's backyard…a REAL backyard, not a bunch of dirt like at my house. I love all of this stuff growing that I can sniff and eat. |

Here are Clio and me playing "Miami Vice." I'm Crockett and She's Tubbs and we're chasing bad guys. |

Now we're playing hide and seek and I'm winning.

Clio says this is a pool, but I think it's the world's biggest bowl of water. |

Clio is getting frisky and wants to play some more. |
This is me pausing from play time to pose for the camera. A star's life is so hard. |

The games have begun and it's time for Clio and me to wrestle. |

Ha ha. I won. |

Now that we played, it's time to relax.

I'm so tired I can barely walk to bed. |

Here we are watching Animal Planet on TV. |

This is me being cute again. |

This is our first Christmas with Shep. So far, so good. We've had no incidents of eaten ornaments, fallen trees or ripped open packages.
As always with our pets, Shep is being spoiled as he's thrown into his first holiday at Williams Manor. Here are some photos of Shep's first Christmas... |

Shep got an early Christmas present with this squeaky snoman.

This is Shep preparing to destroy the snowman.

Destruction has begun. This toy lasted two days before being torn up so much we had to take it away from him.

Shep has two first Christmas ornaments, this one personalized, thus officially making him part of our family.

This is the more cheesy, standard "new home" ornament. |

Shhhhh. This is Shep's box of presents that just arrived. We have to wrap them still.

On October 30 2005 my German Shepherd, Shep, turned 6 months old. He is now fully trained on basic commands, plays fetch like a champ and eats about 5 cups of food every day. He is truly all the dog we could have ever hoped for. He has fully accepted us as his pack and follows us everywhere. He has begun protecting his yard and his house by growling menacingly at the fed ex guy. His progess has been amazing and it's been a blast, although it's been a ton of work.
He poops three times per day (huge poops too) and sleep the average 18 hours per. The rest of the time he is the most loyal, loving, protective puppy I've ever seen. |

This is my gorgeous boy, Shep. At 6 months, he's well over 50 pounds, 3 feet long and his head is 2 ½ feet off the ground. His dad weighed 115 pounds, his Mom 95 pounds, so he'll probably be a big boy.

The true glamour of dog ownership, the poop bucket.

Another necessity to having a big dog who poops outside is the giant fly catcher. The black stuff on the bottom half of the bag are dead flies.

My dog is a ham. He loves to pose for cute photos.

Here is Shep and his namesake, Shep Smith of the Fox News Channel. |

My wife loves the "footbaths" that Shep gives her. |

Ham.

Here, Shep poses next to his official cabinet.

In the top drawer of Shpe's cabinet are his hygiene products, including brushes, shampoos, and toothpaste (yes, I brush my dog's teeth).

Drawer #2 houses wipes to clean his muddy paws, spare collars and leashes and poop mitts (which are never used because Shep knows that walks are for walking, not going ka-ka).

This drawer is home to fuzzy chew toys we haven't used yet.

Any toy that has to do with being thrown or tugged on is housed in the bottom drawer. This dog loves to play, and we have to be prepared to keep him on his toes, er claws.

On top of Shep's cabinet sits the bowl of toys in current rotation; two chew/tug toys and lots of balls.

Here comes Shep, it's play time.

At 6 months, Shep is right in the middle of his second phase of teething. His adult teeth are in, but not fully, so he loves anything that pulls on those chompers, like tug of war. |

This is the view from my end.

Another part of being a good doggy-daddy is proper pet hygiene, which in Shep's case means trimming his nails once per week. |

Like all good big dogs, Shep knows how to lay down while eating and drinking.

Time for more play. Here comes Shep with his favorite squeaky toy from his Aunt Carolyn in Tucson. |

Happy Halloween from Shep. This stuffed pumpkin lasted about 2 minutes before destruction occurred at the jaws of Shep. |

This is what we call photographic art. In the foreground is the magic can, a soda can filled with pennies. When shaken, dogs hate the noise and immediately obey you. As you can see, Shep pays deference to the can in this picture.

This is favorite ball #2, which also squeaks. Here, Shep gives you his "get the hell away from my ball," look.

Here, Shep guards his most favorite indoor chew bone, the Nyla-Bone.

Here are the very first photos my wife and I took of our Shep...
On Labor Day Weekend, we brought home Shep the German Shepherd. His name actually came from watching Sheperd Smith on the Fox News Channel, whom they constantly call "Shep." My wife and I thought that would be a great name for a Shepherd and it certainly fits our boy's personality.
It's been 15 years since I raised a puppy and I had forgotten what a life changing event it is if you're committed to doing it right. There will be no travel for quite a while and every decision we make now centers around our puppy.
These photos were all taken in his first week home. He's an active, loving puppy with a great personality. |

With a little help from my wife, Shep gets in the lake and gets all wet. |

Being a lover of the water, here's Shep giving the once over to our pool. As of this writing, he hasn't been in…yet.

Here, shep enjoys a nap in his outdoor kennel at our home.

This is a great "gotcha" moment, when I realize, thanks to my wife, that I have just built a doghouse that doesn't fit through the door of Shep's outdoor kennel. Ultimately, we lifted the kennel and slid the house in.

| Indoors, when not sleeping in our room, Shep spends all his time right now in the kitchen. Here, he enjoys a frozen bone toy after being outside in the summer heat. |

This is a great action shot of Shep in his indoor kennel, staring down our cat Cabernet, who wants nothing to do with him. All the cats so far have been terrified of Shep, who doesn't seem to care much about their existence.

Here is some time lapse photography of Shep. In the first photo, Shep is napping peacefully on the kitchen floor. Here, Shep sits up at the sound of the vacuum going on upstairs. Literally two seconds later, Shep has assumed his usual demeanor of not caring about the world around him and is comfy once again. |
