Congratulations!
You have finally landed on the one page on this entire site (and on the entire internet for that matter) that is purely without bullshit... my soapbox page. There are a lot of times during our show that, whether it's because of time constraints and other obligations, I don't always get to address some issues that I feel don't get the attention they deserve. There are even more times when I just don't feel like waiting until the show the next day to get some things off my chest. Thus, I have started the "Rob's Soapbox" page. If you have clicked on this page looking for someone to coddle your fragile sense of self-esteem, or tell you what you want to hear or to reinforce your outdated world view, then exit this page right now and go somewhere else. If you are in search of the last forum for reason and common sense left in the world, then sit back, relax, and enjoy. I make only one promise with this soapbox page... if you read long enough and often enough, you will eventually be offended. So here's my latest soapbox. Listen up, 'cause you just might learn something... |

April 3rd , 2006 COMMUNISM COMES TO AMERICA: WHAT WILL WE SEIZE OF YOURS?Communism has made its way to America. There is a truly disturbing act of taking from the rich to give to the poor occurring within our borders as we speak. You should be outraged, scared and emboldened to stop it and all others like it. I'll tell you about it after a brief history lesson and explanation. Bear with me, it's worth it. Let's pretend that you worked really hard for something, like say your first house. A house is something to be loved and cherished and you should own and live in a house that makes you feel at home. Let's pretend that you bought the house you could afford and paid $350,000 for that house. What do we do about the people who can't afford a house that nice? What do we do about the guy who can't even afford a $150,000 home? Where's the fairness in you living in a home nicer than another human? The answers are, that in a communist society, we would take your house away, give it to the "government" and then build you and the guy who couldn't afford a $150,000 home the exact same type of house, just enough to suit your needs, right next to each other. The theory of wealth distribution is at the heart of the big red giant and it is sickening. Whether it is housing or your car, you should never have more than another, say the commies. America has been going down the road of class warfare for decades now and communism is where that road leads. Right now, many of you target the "super-rich," like Bill Gates, but the fact of the matter is that there will always be people with more than you, or should I say, less than you, who will want their piece of your pie. Be careful what you wish for. Today you say that Bill Gates should give up his millions, tomorrow the guy down the street who has only one car says you should give up your three vehicles. I actually own and keep on my office bookshelf a copy of "The Communist Manifesto," by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. It serves as my reminder of the simplicity and evil within so many humans that must be stopped, squashed and prevented at all costs, even if it means the destruction of life as we know it. Does that sound radical to you? If so, I would submit to you that you are either a brainwashed Communist, or you simply don't understand that Communism and all of its trappings are a fate worse than death. The very basis of Communism is the desire to suck all that we define as life out of the people. In 1848 Marx and Engels, under the guise of "helping the poor and working" created this monster and began the first forms of class-warfare that now permeate the world. By touching the cord of people too lazy and uninspired to work for what they got in life, Marx and Engels created a world in which people who succeed and thrive are not revered and envied for their accomplishments, but are instead maligned, hated, impugned and told they are evil and selfish. The ironic lie about the communism mind-set, of course, is the big giant hypocrisy that goes along with it. The chosen few, the elites, in the Communist system have and control everything, literally. They want for nothing and dispense the goods and services down to the "little" people as they see fit because they have decided that 99% of people aren't capable of living life without the helping hand of the government. Reading the Manifesto is an act of nausea, but here are some bullet points of the Marx/Engels plan:
Given what you've learned from the above, what's so bad about Communism? After all, poor people got something. They could eat; they could be educated; they had more control over their destiny (at least in theory). But we know that practically everyone else in the world, particularly once World War I ended, was scared out of their minds about Communism? Why worry? What's the threat? What's wrong with a system that eliminates economic disparity? Think I'm making this up? Click here to read the actual on-line paper
The mayor of the village where Deep dale is located has announced his intention to seize the golf course under the rules of eminent domain, the ability of a local government to seize private property for the "good" of the greater public at large. Usually, eminent domain is cited and used to build a needed freeway or because the property in question is so blighted and rundown that it is an eyesore. Clearly, the latter doesn't exist but neither does the need for the freeway. No, there will be no publicly needed road, school or service center built in Deep Dale's place if the mayor gets his way. In fact, the golf course will remain open once it is seized by the city. So, you must be asking, why does the city feel it has the right to seize someone's private property and what do they intend to do with it? Allow me to share with you the horrifying answer. The mayor brazenly wants to take over Deep Dale golf course and make it public… simply because the very existence of the golf course "isn't fair." He wants the masses to be able to play it because it isn't fair that a chosen few have access to a beautiful place that most will never see. Turn a blind eye to the golf course in New York if you must, but don't have the audacity to be surprised when they come to take your prized possessions. So, in the land of opportunity and home of the free, this mayor is going to be Robin Hood and rob from the rich and give to the poor who have earned nothing. Welcome to America, Mr. Marx. http://www.newyorker.com/talk/
