Congratulations!
You have finally landed on the one page on this entire site (and on the entire internet for that matter) that is purely without bullshit... my soapbox page. There are a lot of times during our show that, whether it's because of time constraints and other obligations, I don't always get to address some issues that I feel don't get the attention they deserve. There are even more times when I just don't feel like waiting until the show the next day to get some things off my chest. Thus, I have started the "Rob's Soapbox" page. If you have clicked on this page looking for someone to coddle your fragile sense of self-esteem, or tell you what you want to hear or to reinforce your outdated world view, then exit this page right now and go somewhere else. If you are in search of the last forum for reason and common sense left in the world, then sit back, relax, and enjoy. I make only one promise with this soapbox page... if you read long enough and often enough, you will eventually be offended. So here's my latest soapbox. Listen up, 'cause you just might learn something... |

November 15th , 2004 GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY The American justice system continues to be the greatest ever designed. I will always stand up for its’ root causes, convictions and foundations. As I have said many times, I have learned over the years to never question the brilliance of our founding fathers when they set up America. What I will continue to question and be sickened by is the American people who continue to have no grasp on logic, facts and the way the system is supposed to work. In my opinion, based solely on what I know and my instincts, I am fairly certain that Scott Peterson killed his wife and unborn child two years ago. I am more certain, however, that this case never should have gone to trial, let alone resulted in a conviction. Multiple judges and legal scholars have publicly agreed with my opinion. All of us who share this viewpoint are what we call “strict Constitutionalists,” meaning people who adhere to the letter of the documents our founding fathers wrote and we leave no room for interpretation into those documents. When the arrest of Peterson occurred, there was no body. By the end of the trial there was no murder weapon and no conclusive type of death. There was no DNA evidence. The prosecution’s case was flimsy at best, and there were numerous missteps by the judge which may ultimately wind up in an overturning of this case on appeal anyways. Scott Peterson was convicted because he was an adulterer. Peterson is guilty because a beautiful young woman who was about to give birth to a baby boy is dead and our blood thirsty, vengeful society needed to hold someone accountable. Since no one more reasonable was presented, Scott will pay the price. The scary thing is that most of you are fine with that. Some people believe that since he cheated on his wife, he deserves to die. Others say that he “looks guilty.” Some people believe that since he was having an affair, dyed his hair and was near the Mexican border when he was arrested he must be guilty. Again, allow me to state that I am fairly certain that he did in fact commit the crime. What keeps me up at night is that we completely lacked the evidence necessary to try this man, let alone convict him, yet he was found guilty in less than 3 hours by a jury of his peers. Along with that, we have just passed proposition 69 in California which will allow authorities to take your DNA to keep on file just for being arrested, not convicted, of certain crimes. We are a scared society and as we become more and more paranoid, we become less and less reasonable and free. So, sleep well tonight knowing that you bent the rules and put a guilty man away without proper evidence to do so. Just bear in mind that we’re only a pubic hair away from putting more and more innocent people away for crimes they never committed, all so you can feel safe and cozy at night.
