Congratulations!
You have finally landed on the one page on this entire site (and on the entire internet for that matter) that is purely without bullshit... my soapbox page. There are a lot of times during our show that, whether it's because of time constraints and other obligations, I don't always get to address some issues that I feel don't get the attention they deserve. There are even more times when I just don't feel like waiting until the show the next day to get some things off my chest. Thus, I have started the "Rob's Soapbox" page. If you have clicked on this page looking for someone to coddle your fragile sense of self-esteem, or tell you what you want to hear or to reinforce your outdated world view, then exit this page right now and go somewhere else. If you are in search of the last forum for reason and common sense left in the world, then sit back, relax, and enjoy. I make only one promise with this soapbox page... if you read long enough and often enough, you will eventually be offended. So here's my latest soapbox. February 8th, 2008 MEMBERSHIP HAS ITS PRIVILEGES As of February 11th, 2008 we have officially launched a project that has literally been years in the making, the members only side of our website, www.robarnieanddawn.com The genesis of this idea began long ago with a variety of the show members and its’ closest advisers agreeing that it would “be neat” to offer you, our loyal listeners, more of the show than what you get each day from 5-10am Pacific time. We never imagined that the demand and insatiable thirst for “more Rob, Arnie and Dawn,” would be as great as you have shown it to be. The outpouring of desire for more of “the show” has been overwhelming and has led us to this point. For that, we thank you. On that note, allow me to pause and offer a few thoughts on you, the loyal listener. The Rob, Arnie and Dawn show has thrived, lived and existed on a variety of levels. Each day we talk about every topic imaginable ranging from politics to sex to Hollywood to religion and everything in between. We try to make you laugh one minute, cry the next and scream in anger after that. Regardless of which button we are trying to push though, one underlying theme always consumes and defines our show; honesty. With that brazen honesty comes a fairly abusive and somewhat co-dependent relationship with you. It is not uncommon to hear one or all three hosts of our show call you an idiot, mock your thoughts or jokes or go so far as to tell you that we hate you. Despite all of this, you, our loyal following, embrace and understand the tone with which we present our show. The success of the Rob, Arnie and Dawn show is not arguable. We continue to dominate, at levels rarely seen anywhere in American radio, the ratings across all age and gender groups. As recently as last week, in both Reno and Sacramento, our seemingly un-explainable success was confirmed yet again by new ratings numbers which showed that, we are, by an overwhelming margin, still the most listened to radio show amongst all adults between the ages of 18-54. Many of you often ask about other shows that claim they beat us or put up billboards proclaiming themselves “your favorite morning show.” Put simply these people are lying. While they would tell you that they are simply parsing numbers or citing newspaper surveys, the truth is simply that they are lying. Beating the Rob, Arnie and Dawn show amongst women between the ages of 12-18 does not make you #1, it makes you a niche. Winning a newspaper poll voted on by 85 year olds doesn’t make you more popular than us, it makes you desperate. All of this success comes from one place, our seemingly bottomless pit of listeners who loyally find a way to listen to as much of us as possible non-stop. Our internet numbers are equally as staggering. We have statistics that rival major national websites that would blow your mind away. Every morning, thousands of people from Seattle log onto our website and still listen to us everyday, 8 years after we left that city physically after a brief 9 month broadcasting stint. That, in radio-land, is the very definition of passion and loyalty. Despite our on-air bravado and cockiness (well, that of Arnie and me), none of us take our audience for granted, and that has led us to the launch of the members only side of Rob, Arnie and Dawn.com. For years, we have received countless letters and calls asking for more of the show. Despite the fact that we already do the longest daily talk show in the industry, people want more of us. We are constantly bombarded with requests for more insights into our personal lives, how we behave off the air or during commercials, and whether or not we would ever consider doing “extra shows,” and making them available to the audience via our website. These demands and a lot of brainstorming, hard work and countless hours have brought us the members’ side of the website. For those of you that have no desire to pay your hard earned money to hear or see more of the show, fear not. Absolutely nothing will change about our commitment to the currently existing RAD.COM website. We will still post daily updates, celebrities uncovered, all of the pile stories and maintain the site as you have always known it. The launch of the members’ site in no way indicates an impending laziness on our part, just the opposite. Members.robarnieanddawn.com is for the most passionate and loyal amongst you. Those who want to hear us talk about subjects that terrestrial radio no longer allows us to (thanks Janet Jackson)! The members site will allow you access to dozens of hours of newly recorded, never before heard shows and topics, along with behind the scenes video and access that many of you have asked for. We promise that we will maintain the site in a way that constantly makes you feel as though it’s well worth less than $5 per month out of your pocket. Either way, we are all passionately excited about this project and we thank you for your continued loyalty…maggots.
