Congratulations!
You have finally landed on the one page on this entire site (and on the entire internet for that matter) that is purely without bullshit... my soapbox page. There are a lot of times during our show that, whether it's because of time constraints and other obligations, I don't always get to address some issues that I feel don't get the attention they deserve. There are even more times when I just don't feel like waiting until the show the next day to get some things off my chest. Thus, I have started the "Rob's Soapbox" page. If you have clicked on this page looking for someone to coddle your fragile sense of self-esteem, or tell you what you want to hear or to reinforce your outdated world view, then exit this page right now and go somewhere else. If you are in search of the last forum for reason and common sense left in the world, then sit back, relax, and enjoy. I make only one promise with this soapbox page... if you read long enough and often enough, you will eventually be offended. So here's my latest soapbox. January 30th, 2006 COMING SOON TO A PLANET NEAR YOU: NUCLEAR WARI try my best to remain aware of the fact that many of you get most, if not all, of your news about the world from our show, and more specifically, from me. Some of you expect me to keep you informed of what's important and that's a responsibility I take very seriously. Allow me then to inform you that the Cold War is back, and it's heating up quickly. Those of you who remember movies like "The Day After," and visions of mushroom clouds occurring simultaneously in Moscow and New York may agree with me that right here, right now, we are standing at the brink of the greatest threat to the World's safety since the Cuban Missile Crisis. Am I exaggerating? Possibly, but let's quickly review the facts, presented in a way meant to be accessible to people of all levels of political knowledge. **Israel is a country in the Middle East (which is no where near Chicago) that is surrounded by people that hate it and have literally called for Israel and its **Most notably, Israel shares its border with the fake state of Palestine, a mostly Arab nation whose people have had their minds poisoned by anti-Jew, anti- American propaganda for the last 40 years. **The fake state ((I call it that because it's actually just a plot of land in an already named country {Israel}, but that's another argument for another day) has just elected a terrorist group named Hamas to run their "country." **Hamas is funded by and supported by Iran **Iran is bad
Now seems like as good a time as any for a history lesson. Many of the worst regimes of our times have come to power through democratic elections. The most obvious example of course is Adolph Hitler, who was popularly elected by the people of Germany, who only realized how wrong they were when it was far too late to stop him. In Palestine, the people were so fed up with the corruption of their government for the past 40 years that they actually decided that letting a group of known, armed, admitted terrorists run their lives was a better alternative. In doing so, they have strengthened and emboldened Iran and all radical Islamist nations across the region. Let's review a few more facts at this time; **Iran is about to get nuclear weapons. This is nothing like the Iraq situation of 2003. In this case, Iran is being very honest about the fact that yes, they are working on it and yes, they will use it once they have it (mainly to destroy Israel) **The new President of Iran is crazy. I mean literally certifiable. He has facial hair too, just like Hitler. **Iran borders Iraq, where 150,000 American troops currently live. **Iran borders Afghanistan where another 20,000 American troops live **Iran borders Pakistan where Usama Bin Laden lives. All of this, combined with a few more facts should complete the lovely picture I am painting for you; **Israel is America's closest ally and always has been. Great Britain is a close second, but make no mistake about it; America would die defending Israel if necessary. The why's of that are for another column, but the fact is indisputable. So here we are. Are we really on the brink of World War III and/or nuclear war? Yeah, probably, it's just a question of when and how. America has made a business out of "kicking the can down the road," ever since we wrongly turned tail and ran out of Vietnam. Since then, we created Saddam Hussein, ignored the Iranians when they killed our soldiers in Beirut, didn't finish the job in Iraq the first time, ignored the terrorists the first time they bombed the World Trade Center, and allowed the North Koreans to build Nukes right under our noses. The real question at this point is whether we'll kick the Iranian can down the road some more or just deal with it now. As for why you should care, you shouldn't, I guess. There's really very little any of us can do. This ride went spinning out of control years ago and has only been fueled by our own ignorance, apathy and weakness. Yours and mine. Arrogant, ignorant, lazy people get arrogant, ignorant, lazy leaders. Those of you who see the Palestinians dancing in the street and say things like, "who cares, I don't live there!" are the ones who created this mess. You'll care when the draft comes back. You'll care when there's a mushroom cloud over America's 10 biggest cities. You'll care… I just don't know when.
