Congratulations!
You have finally landed on the one page on this entire site (and on the entire internet for that matter) that is purely without bullshit... my soapbox page. There are a lot of times during our show that, whether it's because of time constraints and other obligations, I don't always get to address some issues that I feel don't get the attention they deserve. There are even more times when I just don't feel like waiting until the show the next day to get some things off my chest. Thus, I have started the "Rob's Soapbox" page. If you have clicked on this page looking for someone to coddle your fragile sense of self-esteem, or tell you what you want to hear or to reinforce your outdated world view, then exit this page right now and go somewhere else. If you are in search of the last forum for reason and common sense left in the world, then sit back, relax, and enjoy. I make only one promise with this soapbox page... if you read long enough and often enough, you will eventually be offended. So here's my latest soapbox. Listen up, 'cause you just might learn something... |

THE DEATH OF PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY, INNOCENT MEERKATS, AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY The American Academy of Pediatrics this week released a report that demands government regulations be placed on shopping carts, lawn mowers, escalators and figure skating because a total of less than 50,000 children in America are harmed each year by these items and activities. 49,990 of those injuries were preventable not by government regulation, but by simple parenting. The other 10 cases are what we call "flukes," which reminds us all of my future political slogan when I run for office, "kids are gonna die…let 'em." Child deaths, while tragic, are an unfortunate fact of life and the cost being paid by our society in our asinine and futile attempt to prevent, or even diminish them, is too high. We are raising kids that are pussies, wimps and completely unprepared for life. Additionally, we continue to remove all responsibility from parents who stop their kids from banging their heads on grocery store floors by simply parenting them and telling them to sit down rather than allowing them to stand in shopping carts. Adults could prevent kids from getting burned or having a limb cut off by a lawn mower by simply paying attention and implementing some control and authority. As for ice skating injuries… please spare me. It's good for kids to fall, cry and even break things. It teaches them about pain, humiliation and how to deal with both. Grow up… and I'm talking to you parents, not your poor kids. Click here to read the best article I've ever read on this point
Meerkats killed because of stupid, ignorant, lazy parenting
I understand and accept the fact that I am not going to love everything about any political party. The democrats, however, are making it hard to like anything about them, as witnessed last week as the far left whacko fringe of their party continued to flex their muscle and take over. John F Kennedy, one of the greatest presidents ever and a hero often held up by Democrats themselves, would be a Republican if he were alive today. JFK initiated the biggest tax cut in American history at the time he took office. More importantly, when confronted with a threat to America he stood on the wall, looked the enemy in the eye and said "bring it on," in not so many words. Today, the Democratic Party is a bunch of weasels that does everything it can to propagate the American image created by another of its heroes, Bill Clinton, in the disaster that was Mogadishu (depicted in the movie "Black Hawk Down"). America is viewed as a country that starts things it can't finish, is all walk and no talk and will back down at the first sign of trouble. Much of this world image is created by the Democratic Party. Make no mistake, I am embarrassed by the way the Iraq war has been prosecuted by an arrogant administration that failed to listen to a myriad of Generals who told them to send three times the number of troops they did in the first place. I am sickened by a president who says "bring it on," and then, for political reasons, orders his military to hold back when 4 American contractors are burned and drug through the streets of Fallujah. This has been a horribly run war, but it is a war none the less and one to which we're in, and that seems to be the actual problem with today's Democrats; they keep trying to recreate past moments they hate. They're angry that we went into Iraq in the first place, so they allow their rage to cloud their judgment, just like they're still angry Bush was made president in 2000 and they continue to allow that rage to cloud their judgment. History will judge Bush, his wars and his impact and won't be able to do so for at least 25 years (it takes that long to truly gauge the scope of a leaders' decisions. For example, right now, today, Reagan's decision to cut and run in the 1982 Lebanon murder of 200+ marines is being re-examined as one of the biggest blunders ever). As the Democratic party allows its rage to cloud its judgment, a clown named Ned Lamont beat Joe Lieberman for the right to run for the Democratic Connecticut Senatorial seat. Lieberman is a moderate, someone who wavers across the middle of the political aisle. In other words, he's one of the 15 reasonable people in Washington D.C. that make decisions based on their conscience, not their political affiliation. Ned Lamont is a whacko that wants to bring troops home so they can be spit on and America can be laughed at. This isn't JFK's party, Truman's party or even FDR's party. In sports when teams get this bad they release the entire team and rebuild from scratch. It's time for the Democratic party to rebuild… and this time, do it while protecting and loving America, not hating and embarrassing it.
