Wednesday July 16th, 2008 TOP 5 WORST CAREER COMEBACKS IN HISTORY Overview: Plenty of people have risen from the presumed scrapheap of fame and become bigger than ever. In all genres, there are multiple examples ranging from Tony Bennett and Mariah Carey in the musical world to Kiefer Sutherland, Teri Hatcher, Marv Albert and Martha Stewart in all forms of the broadcasting and performing genres. Who cares? In honor of Brett Favre’s pending return to the NFL, we want to list the worst of the worst…those who should have stayed away. Criteria: Any person, thing, fad, show, or style that was once semi-popular, then presumed gone, only to return to great prominence once again can be considered. We’re looking not necessarily for “results,” but those comebacks that were embarrassing, unnecessary or altogether crappy. Rob's Notes: No doubt this is almost exclusively a male deficiency, and certainly the sports world is dominated by people who constantly leave their profession and come back to embarrassing results (hello, Mike Ditka, I am talking to you). However, if you open your mind really wide, you can think of a ton of things that were dead and should have stayed that way because they sucked the first time (Robert Downey Jr.). Arnie's Notes: The Family Fued used to be one of the greatest gameshows of all time. That is until they made it worse everytime they brought it back. Richard Dawson is the only host that I will EVER recognize as the host of the Fued. The Olympics just really really suck.
