April 9th, 2007 100 Years In the early morning as I sit outside in our backyard surrounded by the beauty of our roses, hydrangeas, and trees watching the sunrise, I can’t keep the tears from coming out of my eyes, tears of sadness and confusion. Someone very close to me, too soon in their young life, has just lost their father. This wonderful family is now left with the cycle of grieving. A family that is salt of the earth, a family that has served this country, honest to goodness people. Why must the good ones leave this earth too soon? My confusion and sadness continues with thoughts of someone I knew in my past. A beautiful, vibrant, girl who was so easy to open up to and who gave great advice. In High School we were all struggling to figure out who we were and where we were going in life. This particular girl always seemed to have the right answers and such strength, someone to look up to. After High School a lot of us lost touch as you tend to do. Through the years I would receive word on her, her husband and children and the great life they had built. The past few years however she had been fighting the cancer fight until recently. Again I ponder, why? My heart aches for the family and close friends she left behind. Those of us left on this earth are not promised another day and I only hope that each of you will not take for granted the time you have. Both these folks who just lost their lives knew the value of time and I hope you will learn to use yours wisely. The band Five for Fighting has a song with great lyrics called 100 Years. Reading thru it you realize how fast time passes and that we don’t all get 100 years. Some of us get only a few years on earth, some get 20, 30, 40, or 90. Point is we have no way of knowing and we can’t assume we have all the time the in the world to truly live. So truly start living today, right now, this very moment. Take the precious life you have and build a great today for yourself so you can have A Wonderful Life.
100 YEARS by Five for Fighting. I’m 15 for a moment I’m 22 for a moment 15 there’s still time for you I’m 33 for a moment I’m 45 for a moment 15 there’s still time for you 15, there’s never a wish better than this Another blink of an eye I’m 99 for a moment 15 there’s still time for you 15 there’s still time for you
