IT'S THE 90% THAT MATTERS

Within a year a girlfriend of mine started a business, moved that business to a bigger location, then the economy started taking a deeper dump, found out she was pregnant in the middle of it all and has since given birth. Was this her perfect plan for starting a family, no but it happened. And it’s all about how you handle what happens. She kept moving forward and did what she needed to do to keep her business open and take care of the little one inside of her, yes she has a supportive  husband, family and friends but her attitude about it all made all the difference. She is an example of the quote by John Maxwell ‘Life is 10% what happens to me, 90% how I react to it.’ She could  have easily fallen apart and understandably so, a new business needs money and so does a baby and the money was low and tight but she woke up each morning with an attitude ready to find solutions.

We can’t plan for everything in this life, of course we can try  there is no harm in that and we can even have back up plans but in the end it is life and the unexpected does happen. If my friend could go back in time she wouldn’t change a thing, and that is saying a lot for her because she is a planner, she likes to have a plan for everything and if there isn’t one she will find one, just like she did when she found out she was pregnant, I guess God knew that about her! Having that same faith for yourself when life throws you some curveballs is what will get you thru it, whatever your situation  you are capable of rising above it, regardless of the pain, hardship and stress of it all you can choose to react to it with a can do attitude, an attitude that says this won’t break me it will not only make me stronger but it will help me to see life in a way I might have not seen it otherwise, in a way that will actually help  you to appreciate the ups and downs in life. As uneasy as the down times feel this is where we learn the most about ourselves and these are the times that help us to savor the ups that much more.

The fact about life is whatever is good or bad will change. But you are the one constant in the equation so it’s all how you handle that 90 percent, and that is news that is Wonderful!
