BEING THANKFUL

As you know this time of year is by far my FAVORITE!! If life could be the movie Groundhog Day, but change day to months, I would have us repeat the months of October, November and December over and over again!! Cool thing about that as well, I wouldn’t age because my birthday is in January!! Anyway….with Thanksgiving almost here and all the fun festivities that go along with it let us not forget to be thankful. Now more than ever with all the uncertainty we face it’s a good idea to take a moment and sit in thankfulness. Be thankful for your healthy family, be thankful for the time you have or have had with a sick family member or friend. Be thankful for the roof over your head even if you don’t own that roof, the fact that you have a warm place to lie your head every night is reason to be thankful. Be thankful for each meal that you eat, many go without. Be thankful for your ability to see, hear and walk many cannot. Really I am not trying to depress you! The point of sitting down and thinking of all things to being thankful for is remembering that the smallest of things that we do each and everyday that seem like no big deal, really are blessings. When we allow ourselves to truly acknowledge the little blessings we make room for the bigger ones!

One HUGE thing to be thankful for is living in America! No matter your current situation you live in the greatest country on earth meaning that each day you awake is a new day filled with opportunities. A day to savor, appreciate and try to get right! So what if you don’t have the newest car, the latest cell phone, the big screen TV, the latest fashions in your closet, that is all just stuff. Yes I realize having stuff is joyful but it doesn’t bring you lasting joy. As we draw closer to Thanksgiving do yourself a favor and write a list of all things to be thankful for, look at the list and you will see that even though there are those we have more you still have plenty to be thankful for and that makes this A Wonderful Life!!
