DON'T DO WHAT'S EXPECTED

So when watching The View the other day they were promoting that Joy Bayer was going to be on the show The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch so I thought I would check it out. The show likes to inspire people to come up their Big Idea that will make them millions and or to follow what their true passions are and make money doing it.  Joy Bayer was on to share her story of having many failures as far as work went and then finally following her true passion of stand up comedy which then lead to her job on The View and ultimately  making millions. While being interviewed she said a couple of things that really stood out. 1. The key is to find Success and happiness, a lot of people only find success, but if you are happy than you are successful. 2. DON’T DO WHAT’S EXPECTED.  So many of us grow up thinking okay I will go to college get married and have kids because that is what is expected. Of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with going to college getting married and having kids if that is really what your heart is telling you. For instance in Joy’s case as a kid she was funny and instead of her parents saying oh maybe she will be a comedic actor or a stand up comedian they instead expected her to go and be a dentist or teacher, which she did  become a teacher for a while, but it wasn’t her true passion. When deciding what you want to do with your life instead of going thru the motions of what is expected, do what isn’t expected instead do what your true desire is. You might be expected to continue the family furniture business but  you are an artist who loves to paint and you dream of having your paintings displayed then do that, do what your dream is what your passion is and not what is expected. This isn’t about abandoning life’s responsibilities it’s about doing what you truly desire for a living  that allows you to take care of life’s responsibilities, face it having day to day responsibilities in life is going to happen regardless of what you have chosen to do with your life so you might as well be doing something that you wake up happy and excited to do instead of waking up knowing you are just doing what was expected of you. Take the time to really check in with yourself to find what your passion is and then follow it and that will for sure help this to be A Wonderful Life!
