Really are you kidding me, wait what am I talking about, it is Hollywood after all and the fashion world and their standards for women are absurd!! Okay so if you are a fan of the show Mad Men on AMC, (I have only watched a handful of times) than you know who Christina Hendricks is, she plays the Office Manager in the show about the world of advertising in New York City in the early 60’s, she  mentors a group of women who must deal with the come on’s and callousness of the advertising executives, male dominated. The girl has been compared to 1950’s pinup Jayne Mansfield, you know the classic Hourglass figure which was the standard for female beauty for, well forever, until somewhere along the line we started thinking stick skinny with no womanly curves was sexy, something I seriously don’t get. In our quest to be equal with males I think we lost what the true beauty of our own bodies is and replaced it with a curve less male body with huge boobs, craziness!!

Even being on a highly watched and acclaimed show won’t get you fair treatment in the fashion world if your body doesn’t fit the size 0 to size 2 world, size 0??? I guess being a gal with curves the size 0 baffles my mind, I mean what is that, it’s like you are not a size…again I resign to the fact it baffles me! Back to Christina Hendricks who like all actresses this awards season is busy looking for the perfect dress difference with her is that many fashion designers refuse to help her find a dress for her curvy body, you read that right they simply refuse because she doesn’t  have the size body they prefer. NUTSO! It goes farther than that with a lot of designers they just don’t refuse to help, they don’t want to be associated with larger ladies! Remember larger to them is bigger than a 2, a 4 and how dare you be a 6 and heaven forbid you even mention the size 8 and well don’t even try to go into double digits….dare I say it a 10..uh o!!!

This shit used to make me sad, until I realized they are actually the crazy ones, now it is so laughable!!  A woman’s body is to be celebrated so many shapes and sizes it really is a beautiful thing and to clump us all into one mold is what is absurd, and what is more absurd is that so many of us have allowed that to happen, good news though the older  you get the wiser you become with how ridiculous it all is. Christina Hendricks admits that her size has lost her acting jobs in the past but she refuses to get all super skinny to fit in with her peers. And by the way if you know who she is or if you see a picture of her you will have the same reaction, ‘they think this is big!’ she has boobs, she has hips and her body has the curve from her waist to her hips, you know a classic woman shape..any who I like this following quote I read from her…..

"I was told I was very close to getting a job and they decided I was too heavy. I felt very embarrassed. But I thought, 'I chose to live here (in Hollywood). I know how it goes. I can either lose weight or I can stay the same.' I chose to stay the same."

Christina Hendricks is making her own rules and accepting what God gave her and that is Wonderful!
