HUMBLE

Humble is a quality I have always admired in folks who could otherwise strut their shit around if they wanted but choose not to. Over the weekend I was reminded how much I do love humble people. My husband and I attended a dinner put on by one of his business buddies, and that room was filled with people who are extremely accomplished, talented, educated and have done very well for themselves. However not one of them had an attitude. Not one of them was smug, not one of them looked down on others, they were all salt of the earth. So many different walks of life filled the room, yet there was no judgment.

Working hard and accomplishing your goals is something to be proud of for sure but it doesn’t make you better than someone who has yet to do the same. My nana came from extreme poverty and when the family came to America for opportunity and succeeded beyond what they had imagined, they never forgot where they came from. The only way you would have known that my Nana’s family had created wealth for themselves is if you went to their house. They were very humble, down to earth and never spoke of the money they had. They would still budget their clothes and food shopping, I think this is where I learned to LOVE bargins!!

My nana taught me so much, to not only work hard but to never judge those who have more or who have less. It wasn’t about what people had acquired it was about what type of person they were. Money or lack there of does not make a person good or bad, it is their character, their qualities and the person they are on the inside. It’s not about not wanting better for yourself it’s about not losing yourself in the process, stay humble, that my friend helps this to be A Wonderful Life!!
