Earlier  this week I was a sobbing mess watching America’s Got Talent. One of the acts was backstage getting ready to perform and while being interviewed we find out they are a singing group, a Veterans Choir….all former Military who served proudly, and all former homeless vets..that’s right after selflessly sacrificing for our freedoms they came back home and wound up homeless. When you hear them talk they make no excuses, they just found themselves at the time unwilling to seek or ask for help. Now that they each have turned their lives around they want all current and former warriors to know it’s okay to seek help. Many of our soldiers are returning home and the after affects of war and what they have been through are taking its toll and the result for some is ending up homeless unable to enter back into civilian life. Thank God for organizations such as New Directions which helps homeless Veterans get back on their feet with the counseling and guidance they need. It’s a Wonderful service that does so much for those who have done so much for our Country.
