Flipping thru People magazine and reading how Fergie has been rocked by scandal I came across the photo of an adorable dog and a hot Marine! So of course I was intrigued to read on and holy shit before I knew it I was oohhhing and awwwwwing and ready to buy the children’s book for my nephew that Maj. Brian Dennis wrote. It really is a mind boggling miracle…okay so Dennis was the leader of an 11 man U.S. Marine counterinsurgency force on the Iraq-Syria border and Nubs was the scrappy leader of a wild pack of 11 dogs living in ruins and eating garbage for food. Well the 2 met up, Dennis says you encounter a lot of these packs and strays and they all shield away except Nubs who approached Dennis and submitted to a tummy rub, doesn’t that just melt your heart! While Dennis was sharing his MRE with Nubs, a meal ready to eat, which was spaghetti Dennis noticed that someone had cut off Nub’s ears, ughhhhhhhhhhh people can be such assholes to animals….for this dog to come over to Dennis after having someone do such a horrific thing to him…simply amazing! Before long though the U.S. troops left their temporary border patrol camp and Dennis and Nubs were separated.

Over the next 4 months Nubs would surprise them each time they returned to the area even though there is military rule against interacting with found animals Nubs had grown on everyone specially Dennis. Okay so here is the super cool amazing thing…Dennis took his patrol 75 miles from their previous post and of course Dennis thought this was going to be the last time he would ever see Nubs but to everyone’s amazement Nubs found them!! hellooooooooooooooooo 75 miles away and this dog found Dennis and he did this traveling some of the most nasty inhospitable desert you can imagine. So Dennis decided he was bringing Nubs to America, the 2 live in San Diego together where Nubs brings him lots of joy, aw man you have to see the photos of these two, if you don’t buy People Magazine than at least flip to pages 93 and 94 to see them, by the way it’s the newest issue dated November 16th…..lots of folks wanted Dennis to write about this crazy good story and he finally did and turned it into a children’s book, pick it up and help to share this Wonderful Life story with your kiddos!!
