NO MORE BEING PATHETIC!!!

So one of my all time favorite movies is The Holiday starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet. I have seen this movie numerous times, including this past weekend so I thought I would share what came up for me while watching it yet again, I love it it is a total chick flick. Kate Winslet’s character "Iris" is all too familiar to a lot of women. She is a successful single career women who is in love with a jerk of a man who is incapable of loving her the way she deserves to be loved, deep inside she knows this but buries it so she can still hold on to some kind of hope that he will come around. I am sure you are shaking your head, ‘saying yes I have been there,’ or ‘yes I know a girl who is there!” This movie perfectly illustrates how sweet and kind this women is, how likeable she is all the while you want to shake her in hopes that she will catch a clue and get over this creep! Although she and the jerk once had a relationship, he has since moved on and is getting married but still stringing her along by being her ‘friend.’ E-mailing, going to lunches here and there and chatting on the phone, just enough to keep her around. Yes we all know this kind of guy, this type knows how to find the women who so desperately want to be loved and they know how to prey on their weaknesses and keep them right where they want them. Fast forwarding toward the end of the movie, thank God Kate’s character ‘Iris’ finally finds herself while on holiday in L.A and gets some self esteem and tells the jerk to basically go to hell and get out of her life and it is then that she is free to finally find true love, the kind she deserves!! Yes this may be a movie, but boy does it reflect too many women out there and the truth of the matter is if you are one of those ladies the movie is correct in that when you finally stop allowing someone to treat you less than you deserve and you really believe you deserve more and you find your inner strength and confidence you will then and ONLY then find a good man. GOOD men do not want weak, mousey women. Game playing GUYS want weak mousey women. I know I have been there and it’s pathetic!! So know when I look around and see my fellow ladies being pathetic I just want to save you!!! We as women have come too far, one of the greatest things that the generations of women before us did was give us true freedom, meaning we don’t get married anymore because we can’t take care of ourselves. We get married because we found someone  with whom we can build a life together, a life that we have equal say in, a man who adds to our lives, that we love being around, that can challenge us, that we love dearly and is our best friend, not a father figure!! If you are neither weak nor mousey, high five to you, you will love Cameron Diaz’s character! Seriously rent it or buy it you will totally dig it and it is one of those movies that helps this to be A Wonderful Life!
